Highlighting the Filipino philosophy of bright and spacious design, Isabella Robles-Go of Living Innovations Design Unlimited created an Iloilo family home that infuses daily rituals with modern elegance

With expansive views of the town on one side and the ocean on the other, this Estancia, Iloilo home stands as a testament to multigenerational living. Designed by Isabella Robles-Go of Living Innovations Design Unlimited, this Iloilo family home is deeply rooted in the pursuit of community-building, while maintaining the sleek elegance of modern design.

“We always begin by asking how our clients truly live,” Robles-Go explains of her practice’s approach. “Do they crave privacy, or do they gravitate toward open, shared spaces? Do they host big gatherings, or do they prefer intimate ones?” One of the family’s primary considerations was the lack of space for each individual in their growing family to inhabit. That constraint became the primary design cue, opening up the space while maintaining visual connections so that the family could go about their daily tasks seamlessly.

As a result, the Iloilo family home now feels expansive and deeply grounded in intentionality. From the main level, the common and service areas are spread across the right wing while the bedrooms occupy the left wing. The relative who oversees the kitchen, pantry, laundry and utilities has a bedroom adjacent to these spaces for direct, intuitive access at any moment.

For Robles-Go, one of the most notable design features of the Iloilo home is its ‘landing spots,’ where family members can linger for one more conversation, one more shared moment. “We wanted people to linger—whether it’s the family having breakfast at the island, grandparents watching the children play from the sofa or friends gathering for dinner,” Robles-Go shared of the generous seating appearing throughout the space.

In a region renowned for its delicious cuisine, Robles-Go paid particular attention to designing the home kitchen. Blending aesthetics and functionality, the space engenders daily rituals that cross intergenerational borders. “It’s where someone makes coffee, hot chocolate or tea while watching the sun rise over the ocean,” Robles-Go mused. “It’s where family members drift in and out, sit at the counter and catch up on each other’s day. The interior design frames these everyday rituals, turning them into small moments of connection.”

From the dining and kitchen areas, billowing curtains open to views of the ever-changing ocean tides, with natural light colouring the home throughout the day. Marble is one of the key materials used throughout the Iloilo home, its timeless polish tempered by deep wood tones and warm neutral fabrics, creating a serene atmosphere in each room.

For Robles-Go, creating pockets of connection with the outdoors enlivened the space further. Indoor plants like the Suamei envelop the room in a fluid, sculptural form that creates a sense of calm in the living space. When it flowers, its gentle fragrance subtly enhances the room’s sensorial experience. “The interior architecture leans on marble and wood, which can feel quite solid and structured,” said Robles-Go. “Indoor greenery softens that—visually, emotionally and even sensorially. For us, indoor plants are less about decoration and more about wellness: they ground the space, bring in a touch of the outdoors and help people feel more relaxed at home.”

Within the more private zones of the home, the diffused lighting and plush furniture set the stage for a relaxing night in. The space also functions as a work area, with Robles-Go creating an atmosphere that supports habits from reading and meditation to taking client calls and brainstorming new ideas.

Altogether, her deeply personal approach to design ensures that clients feel comfortable making the space their own. “We know a space is successful when it's truly lived in, not treated like a showroom,” she said. “Our clients invest so much—emotionally and financially—into building a home, and we always encourage them to use it with freedom, not fear: to sit, to gather, to play, to host. For us, that patina of use is more beautiful than perfection—it means the room has done its job as a place for connection.”

Robles-Go brings a distinctive perspective to her practice beyond professional training. “Aside from being an interior designer, I’m also a mother of four kids, an entrepreneur, a homemaker and a cancer survivor,” she shared. “All those roles have shaped how I see space and what truly matters in a home. When I design—whether for myself or for clients—my instinct always puts comfort and function above pure aesthetics.”

Such a nurturing, thoughtful approach to life has poured into this Estancia, Iloilo home, creating the space for this family’s milestones to unfold naturally. Seeing the home lived in now reveals exactly what it was always meant to hold: a multigenerational family life that’s busy, loving and deeply connected.
