This elevated bungalow in Bangsar, Malaysia, offers a breathtaking perspective of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Malaysian architect firm Design Collective Architects (DCA) designed the modernist home with a wraparound façade that starts along the north overlooking Genting Highlands, then east and south overlooking the city, before concluding at the south-west looking back towards Bangsar Hills.

Keeping the view in mind for the design of the home, DCA designed the living areas to align along the wraparound facade. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors open up to a large verandah and an outdoor living space, allowing the homeowners to relax and lounge with the panoramic skyline as a picturesque backdrop.

The rooftop space is divided into three areas: an al-fresco dining area for entertaining guests, a lounge area, as well as a mini vegetable garden that was converted from a private pool. Located atop the St Regis hotel in Bangkok, this penthouse ticks all the boxes of a dream abode with its sprawling size, prime location, and stellar views of the city skyline. Design Intervention transformed the bachelor pad to accommodate the client’s lifestyle, and arranged the floor plan of the apartment to place the focus squarely on the most stunning feature—the view.

Floor-to-ceiling windows are installed throughout the apartment, allowing natural daylight to stream in whilst framing the picturesque panorama. The apartment’s colour palette features mostly earthy tones, paired with a subtle use of blue in order to “draw in the colour of the sky to give the feeling that the penthouse is floating among the clouds”, according to the firm’s design principal, Nikki Hunt.

Clean lines and streamlined elements offer a sense of elegance in this minimalist apartment. The holiday home of a Hong Kong-based family, the apartment is located within the luxurious hotel-branded residence Horizon Homes by Shangri-La at the Fort in Metro Manila, Philippines.

The living room was intentionally designed with only one large television that’s cleverly embedded in the living room wall and concealed by one of the Edo screens, only to be revealed when necessary. The homeowner preferred the focus to be placed on the striking city skyline, visible through the large windows framed by steel and glass. Sleek furnishings and an understated colour palette create a relaxing ambience in the home, where the view shines through.

When design firm Evocateurs crafted the interiors of this two-bedroom apartment within Singapore’s Concourse Skyline condominium, the team knew that the highlight had to be the apartment’s stunning unblocked views of the dazzling Marina Bay harbour. Large windows in the open-plan living and dining areas offer its occupants with a light, airy interior and an unparalleled view of the iconic skyline, while the neutral colour palette allowed the incredible vista to shine.

“The main inspiration for this project was the views and how to maximise them from all angles,” says Jennifer Murray, the design principal of Evocateurs. “The couple are early risers and enjoy quiet moments together. I pictured the homeowners waking up in the morning to a beautiful ocean sunrise, then enjoying coffee in their kitchen, which overlooks Marina Bay.”

The floor-to-ceiling windows found in nearly every room within the apartment allow for a scenic 360-degree view of the cityscape.

The apartment is dressed in a mixture of marble, wood and metal accents with understated hues and rich textures. “Instinctively, I knew that anything that I wanted to introduce to the space should not compete with the view for attention,” explains Divya Anthony, the firm’s founder. “The materials and apartment’s layout were all carefully introduced with the intention of complementing [the view].”
