With commanding views of the Arabian Gulf, this Dubai penthouse on Palm Jumeirah is a masterclass of coastal luxury living. “I was immediately taken by its sense of openness and calm,” shares Alua Kul, the designer whose firm Lumi Interiors envisioned the space. “It immediately felt like the perfect setting for a coastal retreat with an incredibly spacious layout that is filled with natural light. It gave us a beautiful foundation to build on.”
The home’s design was anchored on a seamless flow with the natural surroundings, featuring a compelling palette of neutrals with pops of colour throughout the home. “The soft blues of the sea and the warm tones of the desert helped shape the palette and mood of the interior,” says Kul. “Our vision was to create a balance between indoor comfort and the vibrant world outside.”

Kul was also excited to share the newly created study area, where the Lumi Interiors team adorned the walls with hand-embroidered Fromental sakura wallpaper. The use of luxury wallpaper extends to the more private areas of the home, with the children's room featuring hand-painted De Gournay wallpaper that transforms the room into a whimsical yet sophisticated place to unwind.
In the master suite, De Gournay wallpaper creates a dramatic backdrop behind the headboard, adding glimpses of natural scenes to the tranquillity of the bedroom. The layering of neutrals, from the soft rug and pillows to the geometric lamp on the circular bedside table, ensures cohesion in the room’s colour story while complementing the wallpaper.
