Situated in the heart of Saigon’s vibrant urban centre, The Marq Residence epitomises a modern yet serene and sophisticated city lifestyle. Designed and built by Catinat Design, it stands as a statement of luxurious minimalism. The thoughtfully selected materials, natural light and sculptural forms form the main language here, replacing any hint of overt extravagance.
The overall design draws inspiration from the ethos of ‘quiet luxury’—an understated opulence expressed through a warm, neutral palette, tactile surfaces and sculptural furniture. It’s an ambience sensed from the very first impression of the living room, with its soft sand-toned walls and delicately textured stone panels setting the tone; a terracotta boucle armchair serving as a striking focal point. A neutral L-shaped sofa defines the space, accompanied by a multi-angle lighting scheme that subtly accentuates architectural lines and material harmony.

Yet ‘quiet luxury’ extends beyond design language to every aspect of the construction. When quiet luxury is mentioned, thoughts often turn to lavish standalone furniture or high-end appliances. The Marq, however, is a showcase of painstaking craftsmanship.
No walls are painted throughout the apartment. Instead, the entire wall system is clad in wood, with vertical lines serving as subtle seams between panels. Each wall is framed by a slender wooden border, marking the transition between wall and floor, a small but deliberate and consistent finishing touch.
Two carefully selected stone types feature in the project. First is natural green onyx, a rare gemstone known for its translucence: only the white veins permit light to pass, creating a gentle glow while preserving the characteristic green when backlit. The second is limestone, carved with subtle texture to add interest to the TV wall without disrupting overall harmony.

The master bedroom upholds the elegant spirit with its wooden wall system in earthy tones, a seamless headboard upholstered in high-quality calfskin, and bespoke bedside cabinets that echo the curved forms of the living area. A compact work nook fits neatly into the layout, with a rotating TV cabinet that divides the space, allowing flexible use and optimising the living area.
