Creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for a home renovation, this Los Angeles home by Gianpiero Gaglione is a masterclass in textural, intentional home design
In contrast with the bustling city of Los Angeles, tranquillity sets the stage for a 10,000-square-foot family residence by Gianpiero Gaglione Interior Design. Once a country-style house, it has been reimagined into an elegant, modern home that encourages the family to create unforgettable memories together over time.
Upon visiting the space, guests are charmed by the quaint brick walls and custom wooden door. They immediately feel at home with its balance of subdued colours and playful textures. Soft hues of Bone by Farrow & Ball create an inviting space that shifts with the light, leading into the great room that Gaglione fondly describes as “the jewel in the crown.” Creating a space for the family to gather on quiet nights or host large gatherings, the space is infinitely customisable.

Here, a custom chandelier by Lusive casts a warm glow over plush CB2 seating, while underfoot, a rug from McGee & Co adds softness to the space. The room is anchored by a custom fireplace from Stoneland, with dynamic textures adding movement to the space. The nearby Lulu & Georgia sconces and Soho Home mirror add some organic shapes to keep the living room from feeling too formal and angular.

From the living area, the Los Angeles home flows seamlessly into a formal dining room, enveloped in windows that allow natural light to permeate the space. A Visual Comfort pendant and CB2 wall sconces illuminate the Arhaus dining table surrounded by Soho Home chairs, while Artémest cabinetry adds a touch of European elegance. One of the most notable renovations in the space is the vaulted ceiling, which gives the room a more inviting and expansive air.

Nearby stands the kitchen, which balances angular fixtures and calming marble finishes with undeniable warmth. Anchored by a La Cornue range and finished with Obsolete Inc pendants, it feels both functional and indulgent. The solid wood millwork from Ashley Norton brings a sense of timelessness to every shared dinner. The space opens onto a cosy breakfast nook with a custom banquette by D&R Upholstery wrapped in A Rum Fellow fabric, paired with Nickey Kehoe furnishings and lit by Crate & Barrel pendants.
Moving onto the family room and bar, one begins to witness the family’s deep love for entertaining. Here, comfort and elegance are best showcased through a sprawling RH sectional, accompanied by Engel & Deutch armchairs. Above the room stands a Soho Home chandelier and Williams Sonoma lamps atop the Nobilis-fabric-clad bar. For this particular room, Gaglione wanted to create a more free-flowing, relaxed atmosphere. To do so, he removed an enclosed stairwell that had once blocked the stream of California sunlight.

What sets the sprawling Los Angeles home apart is its L-shaped layout, with a more meditative atmosphere for the bedrooms to unfold. With a custom Buildlane bed and Arhaus lamps atop Lulu & Georgia nightstands, the space feels rooted in nostalgia and serenity. Meanwhile, the children’s and guest bedrooms all reflect their personalities.
Despite its magnitude, this Los Angeles family home never feels ostentatious. “Our designs are purposefully not too loud,” reflected Gaglione. “They’re subtle and restrained; not trendy or edgy, but effortless.” In some ways, the home reflects the best of a well-loved members’ club or boutique hotel, unfolding gradually through a careful confluence of texture, light, and personality.
