This Japandi apartment in the city by Pins Design Studio is small but perfectly formed
Small and sophisticated need not be mutually exclusive, as this condominium in Kuala Lumpur by Pins Design Studio demonstrates.
The apartment belonging to a pair of sisters is located in Bangsar South's integrated urban community, which boasts excellent connectivity and convenience.
While this affords more than its share of benefits, the sisters wanted their home to be a haven of calm they could return to after the hectic pace of city life.
To fulfil this, Pins Design Studio decided on a concept based on a harmonious blend of Japanese and Scandinavian design themes.

“This Japandi-inspired condo is versatile yet spatially efficient. By combining these design themes, we've created an interior that evokes a sense of peace and sophisticated charm,” explains Tan Sii Yuan, one of the three founders of Pins Design Studio.
Warm wood tones and neutral finishing dominate the palette but are gracefully complemented by luxurious materials with distinctive textures and motifs.

To disrupt the monotony of the interior theme, the designers also used organic shapes in the form of rounded corners, arches and circular details—a creative approach to keep the minimal design visually interesting.
These unique elements create tension against the clean lines of the furniture and walls, creating a balance between soft and solid.
