This urban sanctuary by EightyTwo balances openness and privacy in an interplay of light, material and proportion
This light-filled, 2,174 sq ft apartment located in the middle of Singapore’s bustling Orchard Road area is a peaceful urban haven for its occupants. The client’s brief was anchored by a desire for the three-bedroom home to embody calmness and restraint, while encouraging pause and reflection. Experiencing a personal resonance with its interiors, which also had to be conducive to everyday living, was equally important.
Longevity was a defining factor; the materials, layouts and finishes needed to feel timeless, allowing the occupants to continually identify with their most private spaces over time.
Light was treated as a material in its own right, overlaying a unique texture to the perception of the other textures, surfaces, and volumes, throughout the home and across the day.

Designed for Pause

Above Designer pieces introduce a touch of quiet luxury to the living space
Upon entry, one is greeted by the home’s communal spaces. Light coloured large-format tiles seamlessly connect the kitchen, dining and living areas, while the open layout invites movement.
Adorned in warm, delicate tones, the living area exudes calm and openness. Daylight filters through drawn curtains, casting a gentle glow across the interior.
Select pieces from Italian masters, including Minotti, bring understated refinement, their ivory tones and dark accents inviting one to linger. Beyond the expansive sofa, a round, veined marble tabletop, complemented by chairs of rich walnut, defines the dining area with subtle sophistication.

Above The kitchen reveals graceful sophistication
A stone island atop bespoke carpentry takes centre stage in the kitchen, framed by darker wood cladding that lends a refined, moody elegance to the space. With appliances and storage seamlessly integrated into the cabinetry, the space reveals a graceful, uncluttered simplicity.
Quiet Comfort

Above Ambient lighting in the bedroom adds warmth
Past the kitchen, a mirrored panel opens to the home’s private spaces, with the wooden flooring and wall panelling signalling a shift from communal zones to something decidedly more intimate.
The primary bedroom was designed as a peaceful and quiet retreat. Stepping through a pair of wooden doors, the entryway is lined with full-height panels, acting as a transitional zone leading to the homeowners’ restful sanctuary.
Beyond this area, the increased ceiling volume introduces more airiness. A leather-wrapped bed from B&B Italia gently cocoons one in a restful embrace. Around it, thoughtfully selected lighting works in concert to shape the ambience: an elegant Santa & Cole nightlight casts a soft, ambient glow, while an artfully placed Louis Poulsen floor lamp scatters gentle radiance across the room.

Above The ensuite offers sweeping city views
Defined by its distinctive floorplan, the ensuite opens onto uninterrupted views of the surrounding cityscape. A full-sized bathtub draws the eye, set against Venetian blinds that filter light while offering privacy.
Adjacent to it, a floating vanity hosts a double washbasin, accented with sleek silver-toned hardware for an understated yet refined finish.

Above Mirrored surfaces in the walk-in wardrobe enhance its sense of spaciousness
Specially crafted for the lady of the house, the walk-in wardrobe harmonises functionality with personal elegance. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors and wooden panels evoke greater visual expansiveness, accompanied by a custom central display and storage area. Her vanity is kept minimal, featuring open shelving and an elegant stool from Molteni&C.
