At 13,000 sq ft spread over the top three levels of Reflections at Keppel Bay’s tallest tower, this super penthouse is one of Singapore’s largest purpose-built penthouses. It has everything a discerning ultra high-net-worth sophisticate could ask for—a panoramic view of both Singapore’s cityscape and sparkling waterfront, an award-winning architectural shell by American architect Daniel Libeskind, and singularly elegant interiors by Edmund Ng Architects.
“Our vision was to create an oasis of opulence, where residents could immerse themselves in unparalleled comfort and indulgence,” says Ng. He and his team at Edmund Ng Architects achieved this by deftly combining an exquisite material palette, carefully curated furnishings, and high-profile artworks to form highly refined, aesthetically cohesive spaces worthy of their multimillion-dollar view.
“Based on our market insights, buyers of such luxury homes prefer to move into a fully furnished apartment,” says Albert Foo, managing director (property development) at developer Keppel’s Real Estate Division. He elaborates: “Furnishing an apartment of this scale takes months of design, planning, procurement and construction, which some buyers may not have the time for. We worked closely with Edmund Ng Architects to furnish this super-penthouse, with meticulous consideration of the lifestyle and tastes of this class of potential buyers.”

Each level of the six-bedroom super penthouse has its own access to the lift lobby. Entering level 39, one is received into a handsome living space. Here, an oversized bespoke chandelier and plush furniture from Giorgetti create a stylish spot from which to admire the view of the glittering sea.
The first level is dedicated to communal spaces anchored by the living room and the kitchen and dining area. Mediating these two spaces is a multifunctional space that Ng has styled into an art space. “The art space serves as a focal point within the living room, drawing attention and creating a sense of curated sophistication,” says Ng.

At the other end of the art space is the stately dining room and kitchen. The super penthouse’s expansive size allows the architect to incorporate large-scale bespoke statement design elements. One example is the four-metre-long stainless steel countertop, which, despite meticulous planning, could not fit into the lift and thus had to be carried by hand via the staircase up to the 39th floor—an arduous and labour-intensive task that required solid teamwork. “Despite these challenges, our team remained resilient and resourceful. We collaborated closely with skilled professionals, developed innovative solutions, and maintained clear communication throughout the process,” comments Ng.

Level 40 is where the private areas are, which include the bedrooms—each with an ensuite bathroom—and smaller, more intimate communal spaces. Libeskind’s sinuous tower design has yielded unique floor plans. Ng has expertly articulated the resulting distinct room layouts with luxurious materials that speak of unparalleled comfort. For example, the bedding, cushions and curtain fabrics have their own subtle texture that, when layered together, create a rich tactile experience. The walls themselves are finished in a mix of taupe-stained wood cladding and Japanese wallpaper—the combined wood grain and woven textures add depth to the material palette.

The master suite features a show-stopping study with a backdrop of bookmatched marble slabs in rose gold and graphic burgundy veining. Another special marble is the Dover White marble used for the master bathroom’s vanity top. Its creamy base and delicate grey veining lend a touch of sophistication to the room. A walk-in wardrobe outfitted with a Molteni&C system completes the opulent offering.
“We imagined the occupants of this penthouse to be affluent individuals, or families who have achieved a level of success and are seeking a residence that reflects their refined taste and lifestyle,” says Ng when asked who he imagines living in the property. “They may be connoisseurs of art, culture, and design, with a penchant for hosting intimate gatherings and social events.”

There is a game room for smaller, more discreet soirees, where a Giorgetti Flamingo table serves as a mahjong table. And there is a lounge and bar area with a 180-degree view of the Keppel Bay for larger, more exuberant gatherings. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding blues of the sky and the sea, Ng has decked the area with a plush custom circular rug with colours that graduated from cream to azure, creating a visual impression of stepping into a cooling spring. Curvaceous custom sofas and armchairs lend softness to the look, while a small rocking chair adds a touch of whimsy.
A custom chandelier with cascading heights fills out the centre of this lounge, imbuing the space with a soft glow and creating a more intimate scale. “People don’t usually go for this kind of cascading chandelier for a room of this height,” explains Ng, referring to the four-metre ceiling height. “But the risk pays off here because it creates a beautiful centrepiece.” A bar finished in brushed and mirrored gold provides a warm visual counterpoint to the coolness of the lounge’s colour palette.
