Ora-ïto reinterprets the boundaries of the kitchenspace with the Foodshelf design for Scavolini
If you're like many Filipino families, then you know that the kitchen is the heart and soul of nearly every home. Ensuring its aesthetic continuity into the other parts of the house is not only important in design, but also in creating a warm, welcoming feel that encompasses the abode. Ora-ïto's foodshelf design adds fluidity to the rooms at home through an intriguing design that reinterprets yet still personifies Scavolini's values. "Apart from the kitchen units themselves, it was interesting to give continuity to the home's aesthetics, which can be found in the living room, the dining room and, why not, even other domestic environments," said Ora-ïto.

Among its many superstar guest designers (such as Nendo and Karim Rashid), Ora-ïto stands out as among Scavolini's most creative due to his Foodshelf design. This is a high customisable set up that redefines boundaries of the kitchen and the living room. Extending the kitchen space, Ora-ïto plays with composition patterns, iconography, and convergence by breaking down doors and wall units and replaces them with new open compartments in different colours that can be combined to create T, U, and L shaped partitions.
This abandons the usual vertical approach that characterises most kitchens and births a "new horizontal linearity". Foodshelf punctuates such by adding wood-effect shelves, walk units, shelves, and open compartments. This makes the space more liquid and multi-purpose, affirming the brand's desire to combine the living room and the kitchen. Further pieces that complement the Foodshelf design include the "Fluida" wall system and other individual modular cabinets.

Decorative melamine doors have also been chosen for the new collection, and match the wood veneer of Foodshelf quite beautifully. They are available in a range of four colours. The doors can be opened with a special handle or recessed grip profile that is slanted at 45 degrees.
Within the Foodshelf range are also open-fronted larder units, those with hidden "switch" doors and "Network" support for worktops.
Interior design can help level up a home. With the Foodshelf, the warmth and comfort that a kitchen brings can extend itself unto other parts of the home, making it more comfortable not just for the residents, but for guests as well. Spread all the warmth and cheer to create a happy, spacious, and elegant home that—quite literally—breaks boundaries.
