We take a peek at the complete range from Ikea’s Obegränsad collection—which includes LED lamps, shelving units, a clock, an armchair, and more—launching on October 27
Music makers and lovers rejoice: the hotly anticipated Ikea collaboration with electronic music group Swedish House Mafia is finally hitting our shores.
Released with the intention to allow anyone to feel creative and democratise music production at home and beyond, the Obegränsad collection offers more than 20 exclusive smart home furnishings and accessories to design the dream studio.
“We wanted to simplify the process for people to create music,” said the group in a statement. “Hopefully our collection inspires and enables more people to be more creative within their home and it does not have to be restricted to only music making, it can be so much more.”
Borrowing references from the familiar sound and look of the house music DJs, each product imbues a cohesive minimalist spirit and sleek designs in a classic black—from a contemporary armchair to portable stands designed for tablets, speakers, and vinyl records.
There is also much to love about the range, especially for up-and-coming music producers and artists looking to set up the perfect sanctuary. This includes a shelving unit (reimagined from Ikea’s Kallax) spaciously designed for amplifiers and a higher unit to a desk furnished with speaker stands and a pull-out shelf. Not to mention, the mix of 3 different LED lamps to illuminate the space and set a relaxing mood.
It is no wonder that Obegränsad collection has already gained traction among audiophiles and creatives, especially on TikTok.
“Look at the collection and the complexity of it: lights, furniture, tech. That would not have been possible with just any collaboration, but collaboration is in the essence of Swedish House Mafia. It's in everything they do,” says Friso Wiersma, Ikea's in-house designer.
