In conjunction with World Women’s Month, Tatler catches up with two busy women about their journey to becoming and how the OGAWA Master Drive AI 2.0. supports their healthy lifestyle
Meet the modern woman, she juggles family and career while looking amazing in the bargain. But what’s behind the serene effortlessness of these women who seem to do it all? Tatler gets personal with Datin Wira Sabrena Dani and Datin Yvette Kang.
For fitness enthusiast and devoted mother, Sabrena is emphatic that becoming a mother has been her best moment in life so far: “It’s the greatest blessing any woman could have, for those fortunate enough. It shifts one’s focus away from yourself to something greater.”
At this point in her life, Sabrena is proud of creating a strong family environment and getting healthy even after turning 30 by immersing herself in century rides, Viper challenges, duathlon and half marathons. This is reflected in what she says are the three most important things in her life: “Wellness is the key for me. Everything else stems from that. Family is my rock, religion is my guide, self-care, self-confidence, balance and moderation are my mantras.”
These have served her well in facing adversities in life, of which she has gleaned some important lessons. “Life’s challenges are never to be faced alone. We look at those at the pinnacle of their careers or fields, we see them and their achievements, but what we don’t see is their support system. Whether this support comes from religion, family or friends, finding your support system is key, do not keep it bottled up inside.”

While family and friends are important to Sabrena, she readily admits that nowadays, she keeps her circle tight which has translated into more meaningful relationships. “Today my social circle is much more intimate. I used to attend social events and gatherings for the sake of attending but now I pick and choose gatherings that are more focused and meaningful or impactful,” emphasises,
This also gives her more opportunity to unwind and indulge in self-care rituals: “Netflix and chill is how I unwind after a long day! I also love a good book while I am my OGAWA Master Drive AI 2.0. To ensure a healthy mind, body and soul, I believe in eating well, exercising, having lots of rest and recovery - and surrounding yourself with those you love and matter.”

For Datin Yvette Kang, the vivacious founder of Yvents, the birth of her three boys, Matt, Marc and Max are what she considers the best moments in her life. Although being recently reunited with her mother after being apart for two years is a close contender.
Indeed family is at the heart of everything she does, especially when Kang is asked about what she holds important in life: “Just the health and happiness of my family, all the friends in my life and their families and just, in general, to show kindness always are the most important to me.”
Kang’s gracious nature belies her drive which is evident in her achievements. “I am proud to have single-handedly built my events company Yvents bringing in some of the world's biggest musicals such as Mamma Mia, West Side Story and Hairspray over 12 years. I have taken a sabbatical now but hope to return to it someday once my boys have left the nest,” she muses. “I am also blessed to have raised three sons who are genuinely kind, humble and compassionate, who love me unconditionally and look upon me as their role model. I think I am most proud of these two accomplishments thus far.”

When it comes to facing adversities, Kang has a philosophical take: “I subscribe to the saying that ‘What doesn’t break you makes you stronger’ and the belief that everything happens for a reason. Learn to let go and put it behind you - don’t dwell on the negatives which will impede you from moving forward and instead focus on the positives with renewed vigour.”
This approach served Kang well during the pandemic where she turned a challenging time into a growing experience. “Right now I’m treasuring the closer family bonds as well as friendship bonds I have built during this pandemic. I’m also feeling substantially healthier and fitter after losing 13kg!” she says with a smile.
While raising three boys keeps Kang well occupied, she believes absolutely in the power of self-care rituals: “No matter how busy a schedule you have, take just a little bit of time out to take care of yourself. Time on my OGAWA Master Drive AI 2.0. is part of my self-care ritual as it helps me to relax, calm my mind and refocus. It really is my me-time."
