Need ideas on how you can spruce up your home office? We pick out a stylish mix of furniture and decor items we love from Vitra’s collections, available at W. Atelier

A home office can become more than merely a functional space; after all, it’s where you’re spending most of your time during the work week, if telecommuting is fast becoming the norm for you. It’s why it’s important to make your workspace one that is uncluttered and inspiring.

Singapore-based luxury furnishings purveyor W. Atelier, which carries brands including Cassina, Lema, Fritz Hansen, and Vitra, offers a diverse selection of stylish yet functional pieces that will make beautiful additions to your home, whether in your study or elsewhere in your abode.

As the regional managing editor for Tatler Homes, I enjoy perusing new furniture collections and continue to be inspired by the innovative pieces that the leading manufacturers and designers have created; including the vibrant mix of mid-century classics and contemporary novelties from Swiss manufacturer Vitra, which are available exclusively in Singapore at W. Atelier.

Here, I’ve picked out my favourite finds from the retailer’s Vitra collections:

1. Vitra Fauteuil Direction chair by Jean Prouvé

One of my favourite chairs is the iconic Vitra Fauteuil Direction by Jean Prouvé. First produced in 1951, its timeless design still retains its appeal, and looks beautiful whether used as a dining chair or a seat for your home office.

2. Artek Kaari desk by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Work desks can pair both form and function. This piece features a sleek form comprising twin oak pillars, supported by a simple steel band that gives the collection its name “Kaari” means “arch” in Finnish.

If you tend to spend long hours typing away at your desktop, a good task chair should definitely be on the top of your shopping list. With its compact padding, high backrest and integrated lumbar support, this elegant and slim seat will provide the comfort that you need. This chair is also handily available in a variety of colourful hues that will add a cheery touch to your workspace.

4. Vitra Moca chair by Jasper Morrison

Sometimes, a simple seat is all that you need in an improvised workspace; particularly if you tend to work from the kitchen or wherever in your home that offers a large countertop space or table for your laptop. If that’s the case, a chair with a simple, minimalist form is best, such as the Moca chair by Jasper Morrison; it can be easily moved around and wouldn’t look out of place elsewhere in your abode.

5. Vitra Vase Découpage by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Tatler Asia

Spruce up your study with fresh cuts or dried flowers in your favourite vases. I love the handmade detailing of these vases, which feature decorative slabs and bars that can be attached to or placed within each vessel.

6. Vitra Uten.Silo I by Dorothee Becker

Tatler Asia

Minimise clutter and bring order to your workspace with this handy wall-hung piece. I love how it comes in three hues—red, black and white—to match your interior scheme.

7. Vitra Resting Cat by Front

I think it’s really important to surround yourselves with the things you love. As a veritable cat lover, this feline ornament stands out to me, of course. Its slumbering form exudes a sense of serenity, which is certainly what you need to see at moments when you need to catch a breather from work.
