Discover love in all its vibrant, mind-warping ways through these kaleidoscopic works of optical pop art
Part artist, part optical illusionist, part mathematician, Patrick Rubinstein has carved out immense success in the art world by uniting principles of optical and kinetic art—and a take on geometric abstraction at a precise 45-degree angle. Think pop art masterpieces that are multi-faceted in every sense of word, presenting different images and perspectives on a single canvas both literally and figuratively, blurring the lines between old and new, classic and modern, and relatable and avant-garde.
The Parisian artist is bringing his kaleidoscopic proclamations of love to Singapore this February, with his first solo exhibition “Love in Motion” at Ode To Art. Here’s what to know.
The exhibition: The “Love in Motion” exhibition is Patrick Rubinstein’s first solo showing in Singapore. The exhibition celebrates the French creator’s main theme of love in various aspects—from his love for 1950s pop culture and the indie rock scene of the ‘60s, to unmistakable icons like Mona Lisa, Mickey Mouse and The Beatles, to all things that give one those fuzzy feelings, like butterflies, furry animals and the word “love” spelled out in full gold leaf glory.
