In search of good design? Step inside Manila’s newest showrooms

Firstly, the Flock Lights reimagine a flight of birds interwoven through steel ribbons. The droplights imitate light passing through their feathers, transforming their individual flights into a cohesive vision. Next, the Bamboosa chair draws on midcentury elements patterned after bamboo nodes. Meanwhile, the weathered seat evokes images of an old iron artefact, while still maintaining a contemporary form.

Other notable pieces include the Figoo tables, with hammered steel tops and rounded ashwood legs, as well as the Russett Wall Light composed of steel blooms that ruffle like paper. Layered in bronze, copper and pewter, each piece is a breathtaking reflection of natural light and meditation in any abode.

Sitting at the intersection of Pasig and Quezon City, Eton Properties Philippines and Ayala Land have unveiled the Parklinks Experience Center. With interiors by internationally acclaimed Filipino designer JJ Acuña, the 35-hectare mixed-use estate is a celebration of Filipino artisanal identity in the modern age.

Acuña’s interiors emphasise hand-crafted materials and local handiwork, lending the space a charming warmth and opening the possibilities for a vibrant life within its premises. Notably, a three-bedroom model unit at Parklinks South Tower, also styled by Acuña, extends this narrative further, translating the estate’s cultural ambitions into an inviting domestic setup.

“Together, we are rebuilding this new reality that I have in my mind of amazing Philippine architecture and furniture in the Parklinks Experience Center,” Acuña enthused. “We’re essentially rebuilding for the community this concept of Philippine renaissance and design.”

Roughly half of Parklinks’ total land area, including parks and gardens, encourages homeowners to integrate nature into their daily lives. The Parklinks Bridge, arching over the Marikina River, links the estate’s Quezon City and Pasig portions with dedicated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians.

Nearby, the one- to four-bedroom residences draw in natural light and frame views of the Ortigas skyline, the Antipolo mountain range and the estate’s greenery. Residents have direct access to Parklinks Mall, the River Esplanade’s cafés and boutiques and a suite of resort-style amenities.

“We want to give people the same kind of experience you get in these villages around the Parklinks estate, but with the conveniences of modern living,” said Hans Lopez-Vito, the head of Brand Experience and Strategy for Corporate, Estates and Residential Business Group of Ayala Land.

Arriving at Manila’s property scene with ease and confidence, Casa Union hosted its inaugural “Casa Union House Tour” at Bigger Pictures, Mandaluyong. The real estate, construction and development company gathered the city’s most discerning brokers and clients in a loft space where true-to-scale blueprints and floor plans of its latest developments were projected below.
