If you’re ever in Singapore’s CBD area, head over to Capitaland’s new integrated development CapitaSpring for a slice of calm. With its striking design and tranquil public gardens, the 280m-tall skyscraper is making a green mark on the city’s skyline.
One of Danish-based architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group's (BIG) first few projects in Singapore, CapitaSpring is designated as a mixed-use development with offices, residences and several public spaces housed within the structure.

Designed in collaboration with Carlo Ratti Associati, the building’s aluminium facade is marked by a dynamic interplay of orthogonal pin-striped fins. The main entrance, a sheltered 18-metre-tall alcove, has been dubbed the City Room. This vibrant outdoor area, peppered with sculptural works and greenery, serves as usable social spaces for the community; at night, the space is lit up with a warm glow, allowing one to enjoy the play of light and shadows.

Head into the building and up to level 17 to enter the Green Oasis, an open-air botanical promenade that will open to the public from Feb 10. Spanning four levels that are connected by spiral walkways, the expansive 42,900 sq ft of landscaped area is an urban jungle with over 38,000 plants.
Offering copious amounts of sunlight and fresh air, the naturally ventilated green atrium allows the teeming tropical greenery to flourish. For those who desire to work within the serene space, the Green Oasis also features pockets of spaces that are equipped with a variety of powerpoint plugs and amenities to allow one to plug in and charge their electronics.

Other highlights include cosy seats perfect for lounging; meeting halls and a multi-purpose amphitheatre that can seat 30 and hold a variety of community events and performances; an exercise station and a space for yoga or pilates sessions; as well as Sol & Luna, a new Latin-European garden café concept by F&B and lifestyle group 1-Group.

Head on further up to the building’s highest floor—level 51—and you’ll be greeted by a sprawling rooftop garden. Opening in Q2 2022, the Sky Garden is Singapore’s tallest publicly accessible observatory deck. The high vantage point offers a scenic 360-degree bird’s eye view of the city.
The rooftop space features a 5,000 sqft urban farm with a variety of plants and herbs. Harnessing a farm-to-table concept, the urban farm will supply fresh produce to two other upcoming restaurant concepts within the building, by 1-Group.

CapitaSpring is also home to the new Citadines Raffles Place Singapore, which will serve as the new flagship for the Citadines chain that’s managed by Ascott. Featuring interiors designed by Takenouchi Webb, the 299-unit serviced residences comprises of studio, one- and two-bedroom units as well as loft apartments.

A bevy of artworks and sculptures by artists such as Gen.T honouree Tan Zi Xi and Argentine sculptor Tomás Saraceno can be found throughout the building. This also includes an 18-metre-high media wall by international art collective teamLab, which features a dynamic floral piece created by a computer programme that continuously renders the artwork in real time across 2,160 LED screens.
Built around the principles of biophilic design and wellness, CapitaSpring’s smart design places the restorative power of nature at its heart.
