Through the words of Baxter CEO Paolo Bestetti, we take a glimpse inside the lakeside residence where the Italian furniture brand showcases its striking novelties
The story of the Italian furniture house, Baxter, is one that stems from the love of natural materials and the passion to continue a time-honoured manufacturing culture. It’s a relatively young tale that dates back to only 1990, but the entrepreneurs at the helm, Luigi Bestetti and nephew Paolo, look way back in time to a century of fine traditions and transform them into exquisitely unique collections for the world today.
“Baxter's style is one told through freedom,” CEO Paolo Bestetti relays. “The secret lies in knowing how to mix different materials and styles with balance and sophistication. Baxter has never been extreme, but it always tries to reinterpret classicism in a modern key.” The vast pieces under the label are thus born from the regard for a celebrated heritage, the needs of contemporary users, and the desire to always offer something personal and distinctive.
One feature of the brand’s philosophy is the customisation of its products for each end user, like a tailor who sews to measure. Evincing the company’s excellent workmanship, the process behind every Baxter creation begins with meticulous leather selection, which then defines the innate character and quality of each striking make.
Evidently, the Italian manufacturer crafts furniture that interlaces the brand’s narrative with that of its customers. “In every home, there is always something that represents you,” adds Paolo. “I would like our products to stay inside homes and become part of our customers, to become members of the family… to tell a little about the story of the people who buy them.”

This aspiration has similarly driven the company to furnish the home’s exteriors as well; and at an early 20th-century residence called Baxter Lago in Lake Como, the brand proudly unveils its Salone 2022 novelties, comprising a covetable indoor furniture line and some of its first-ever outdoor pieces. “It is the result of research that has taken several years,” the CEO says of the collection. “A careful study of forms and materials that expresses the desire to lend not only creative but also structural, tangible coherence to the space and the imagination.”
