Known for its exquisitely curated selections, 1stDibs, sets the tone for the coming year in design trends with the seventh edition of its annual Interior Designer Trends Survey.
The results of an extensive research process by Surveys & Forecasts, LLC, who interviewed 624 interior designers from around the world, these highly anticipated insights from the data help to predict and define the hottest trends of the upcoming year, as well as year-over-year change and design trends that are falling out of favour.
Here are the findings which documented changing colour preferences, evolving pattern affinity and the rejection of social media trends.

1. Coming of sage
Although emerald tones seemed everywhere on social media and home design for three years in a row, sage was the designers’ top prediction for popular colours for 2024.
The next top colour contender is dark brown/chocolate, burnt/dusty orange, dark yellow/mustard and light brown/tan, for an earthy 1970s-inspired palette.
Ranking just behind the earthy tones are hues of blue, with light blue/robin’s egg blue trending upward in popularity and cobalt blue trending downward from the previous year. Lavender saw the most dramatic decrease.
