On April 6, we co-hosted a private dinner with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore to raise awareness about tiger conservation.

Held at The Macallan Experience at Raffles Singapore, the session was organised in conjunction with the inaugural WWF Tiger Trail, an open-air exhibition of life-size tiger sculptures and artworks by local and international artists displayed at different locations across the city until April 9. It also featured periphery activities such as art and conservation workshops and guided walking tours.

At the dinner, one of the participating artists, Red Hong Yi, who is also a 2021 Gen.T honouree, spoke to guests about the inspiration behind her tiger sculpture and how she sought to illustrate the image of an endangered, and often encaged, wild animal. Rohit Singh, the director of wildlife enforcement and zero poaching at WWF and a former ranger, also joined the session and shared his experiences protecting tigers in the field and why more can be done for these big cats in Southeast Asia.

"Our strategy is simple," Rohit says. "We work on three areas: Stop the bleeding on the ground, stop the poaching; secure the tigers' habitats; and [ensure that our] conservation [efforts] benefit the people living in the same areas as the tigers."

Both him and Red also partook in a short discussion about the power of art in raising awareness for conservation efforts, as guests enjoyed a four-course dinner prepared by Kausmo, paired with Macallan whiskies introduced by the brand's ambassador Randall Tan.

A second session was held virtually on April 13, over Zoom, with guests attending including Benjamin Swan and Marilyn Lum.
