Three Gen.T alumni talks unity and their hopes for the future

With August being the inaugural month celebrating Malaysia’s Independence Day, Malaysia Day often gets swept under the rug as an afterthought. The holiday itself represents the commemoration of the establishment of the Malaysian Federation. In 1963, Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore united into a single state.

This year, Tatler speaks to three alumni from Gen.T—a community and events platform for the Leaders of Tomorrow across Asia, to talk about all things unity and what they hope to see in the younger generations to come.

Jason Wee

Jason Wee, co-founder and executive director at Architects of Diversity Malaysia, sees the cracks in Malaysia’s well-meaning but side-stepping ways when it comes to the treatment and prejudice against the various ethnic and religious groups we have.

His organisation promotes full inclusivity of all races and religions by encouraging debate and exchange between young people from different backgrounds. It also trains educators to become champions of diversity and provides accompanying teaching materials.
