Asia's 50 Best Bars 2022: 2 Malaysian Bars Are Among the Continent's Top Bars

Bar Trigona and Junglebird appear again on the prestigious list this year

On April 28, 2022, Asia's 50 Best Bars 2022 were revealed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. Hong Kong's Coa topped the list again while Kuala Lumpur's Bar Trigona and Junglebird come in at #29 and #35 respectively. Both were also in the Top 50 last year, with Junglebird the only one seeing a rise up the ranking from #37 in 2021. Bar Trigona was #12 last year.

Nevertheless, Bar Trigona, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur's resident bar, continues to show its mettle for classy and creative concoctions, such as the Silent Stinger and Smokey Liquid Churros. Boasting a killer view, it also comes with the additional cachet of being one of the most elegant venues in the city for a drink.

On top of being crowned the best bar in Malaysia, Bar Trigona was also commended for its menu, winning the inaugural Best Cocktail Menu title. The award is presented to the bar with the finest of everything a bar should embody: design and layout, storytelling, innovation, range of drinks, sustainability and how well the menu communicates the bar's identity. Its use of Malaysian produce like Pahang's wild turmeric and raw honey from the eponymous Trigona hives, has proven to be a hit with its customers and voters of the Asia's Best 50 organisation.

Junglebird is also no stranger to the list, having appeared since 2018. Lovingly and rightfully dubbed Rumah Rum, this tiki-themed tropical bar has made a name for itself for its rum-centric cocktails from the Cremas to the Quentão. Throughout the years, Junglebird has played guest host in a slew of Asia's finest bars and is passionate about sharing its love for rum and cocktails.
