Welcome to Foodie Finds! This is an article series by Tatler, chronicling where and what to order according to the food-obsessed.

I myself have never understood non-foodies. How can one not love flavours, spices, aromas and all the cultural nuances and memories that come with every bite? Dining is an experience meant to be savoured and is even more fun when shared with loved ones. Dining around a table means sharing, conversing, bonding and learning.

A dish can tell you so much about a person, a culture, and a country. It speaks volumes of a nation's history and is an art form on its own. Skilled hands are trained over years or are born out of pure passion and practice. Professional chefs and home cooks alike, from young stars to grandmothers, have been cooking up meals filled with emotion and have truly made us foodies, happy.

Through Foodie Finds, we ask our epicurean friends to share their favourites. In this feature, we tackle takeout and delivery. Hear what journalist, Pepper Teehankee has to say. For this interview, Teehankee chose to list his favourite online-only brands, avoiding brick-and-mortar restaurants or those owned by his close friends. Take a look at some of his go-to shops for takeout:

1. Made In BKK

@madeinbkkph

A new cloud kitchen from The Raspberry Kitchen Group (RKG) offers three boxed sets (for now). These are the wagyu steak box, Thai crispy chicken curry, and tom yum puff noodles. These creative and innovative Thai dishes made by chef Francis Lim (who I want to meet) are all excellent; I will have a hard time choosing my favourite among these three. They also offer a unique drinkable version of Thailand's famous dessert- mango sticky rice.

2. Ginza Gyu

@ginzagyuph

This was RKG's first cloud kitchen concept. They serve delicious individual Japanese rice bowls (you can also order these as trays for a bigger group) created by chef Kevin Villarica of Hapag (who I also want to meet)! You won't go wrong ordering their wagyu gyudon, wagyu skirt steak, or wagyu steak bowls of trays! They have a delicious salmon or eight-hour kurobuta chashu option if you're not in the mood for beef. Delicious toppings on flavorful rice!

3. Gourmet By Georgette

@gourmetbygeorgette

Fine home cooking by Georgette (who I still don't know) ranging from crabs, prawns, oysters, and scallops to beef, dim sum, and sushi bake! They offer a wide variety, but everything I have tried from her, I have enjoyed! Her Crack Noodles served with seafood can be customised to your liking. All her crab and prawns trays are delicious and the great thing, is that her dishes will never be overcooked when it gets to you!

4. The Yellow Kitchen

@theyellowkitchen2020

I first tried the famous Indian dish butter chicken from this relatively new Asian cloud kitchen and loved it. Then I tried their Korean soondubu-jjigae (a seafood tofu stew), beef kofta kebab set (it arrives raw so you can cook this to your liking or you can order it cooked), and cochinillo with garlic chili sauce. From then on, I loved everything about The Yellow Kitchen! Must-tries also are the bai tang gao or spongy Chinese white sugar rice cake (very similar to our puto) and the ma lai gao, a steamed, fluffy and springy Malay sponge cake!

5. The Cloude Concept

@thecloudeconcept

I am not exaggerating when I say anything one orders from here will be good. They have amazing tres leches cakes which come plain or topped with organic strawberries.  They also have strawberry bouquets which are chocolate covered strawberries that are made into bouquets, as well as addictive cereal clusters made of corn flakes covered in milk, dark, white and caramel chocolates! A must try is their delicate and exquisite strawberry pavlova with hibiscus syrup– one of the best I've had in the Philippines.

6. Polaris Fine Foods

@polarisfinefoods

Top of the line, fresh sashimi and sushi which can be ordered individually or by set (most can be customised). Most of their fresh fish flown from Japan are just chilled and never frozen. They even carry an array of frozen Japanese beef (eight types for now), even the very exclusive Sanuki Olive Kagawa beef! The best gift one can get for any occasion is their chirashi sushi cake which you can customise to your liking. The to-die-for savoury cake is a crab salad and wakame seaweed stuffed rice "cake" topped by your favourite Japanese sashimi!
