Welcome to Foodie Finds! This is an article series by Tatler, chronicling where and what to order according to the food-obsessed.

I myself have never understood non-foodies. How can one not love flavours, spices, aromas and all the cultural nuances and memories that come with every bite? Dining is an experience meant to be savoured and is even more fun when shared with loved ones. Dining around a table means sharing, conversing, bonding and learning. A dish can tell you so much about a person, a culture, and a country. It speaks volumes of a nation's history and is an art-form on its own. Skilled hands are trained over years or are born out of pure passion and practice. Professional chefs and home-cooks alike, from young stars to grandmothers, have been cooking up meals filled with emotion and have truly made us foodies, happy.

I’ve always loved Fowlbread’s chicken sandwich, but I love their Scam Chicken Sandwich even more. Instead of chicken, you get tofu and crispy tofu skin, so it's somewhat healthier and really good too.

I’m super biased because they’re our [Hydra's] neighbors in Karrivin Alley, and they are friends too. But, truth be told, all their breads are really incredible. If you want a good loaf of bread, you can try their leche pan. It pairs well with coffee, Nutella and savoury fillings too. Their potpot pandesal is good, same goes for their pan gata, it’s pandesal but with gata (coconut milk) as the base. Every Saturday, you should also order their tocino balikbayan. Worth it!

They also have sweet breads that you need to try out: kalihim, bicho-bicho and biskotcho.

To me, this is the best ginger ale in the Philippines! I know I’m biased because this is my favourite but I really haven’t tasted other ginger ale brands that are better than Stanford & Shaw's.

The Curator

I love The Curator’s coffee, but one of my favourite drinks from their shop is Burning Green. It’s a concoction made of green apple, ginger, lime and kiwi. It’s so good! I’m assuming (unscientifically) that it’s also good for your throat as well, haha.

8Cuts

8Cuts is known for their killer burgers, which I also love (my favourite is the Meathead burger with extra caramelised onions), but my go-to is their onion rings. I am totally addicted! They are so good, it is hard to stop myself.
