These quick recipes require minimal ingredients so you can easily recreate them in your own kitchen
Look out world: South Korean pop stars may have more up their sleeves than just singing and dancing.
In recent times, the Korean wave has taken over the food scene with several viral recipes appearing all over social media. And this is because many of our favourite K-pop stars have generously shared their creative take on popular food, much to the elation of their fans—many of whom have obviously tried their hand at recreating those recipes.
For instance, Mark of K-pop boyband Got7 has demonstrated how he spices up the typical convenience store ramen by adding sausages, rice cakes, and cheese. This recipe has since become a favourite among his fans, and is famously referred to as “The Mark Meal”.
If you’re looking for a new recipe to add to your personal cookbook or simply craving a late-night snack, below are some idol recipes to follow.
1. Tteokbokki by Exo’s Chanyeol
Making its rounds across social media in Korea is a recipe by Exo member Chanyeol, who has added a modern touch to tteokbokki a classic Korean spicy rice cake dish. With all the classic ingredients included (chilli powder, red pepper paste, sugar, eggs, green onions, fish cakes, rice cakes), his “secret” ingredients are soy sauce and crushed garlic.
Slowly combine all the ingredients in a pan and watch as the many ingredients come together to form a rich, flavourful gravy. The addition of garlic gives a robust nutty flavour that is otherwise absent in the simple dish.
