We’ve rounded up a few places we think would be ideal for Donald Trump’s visit to Kuala Lumpur
We’re sure you’ve seen it all over the news—Donald Trump has officially touched down in Kuala Lumpur. Arriving on October 26, 2025, for the ASEAN Summit, the President of the United States has certainly made headlines across Malaysia and beyond. His arrival has sparked quite the buzz, from the heightened security and road closures across the city to endless chatter online about his actions and whereabouts.
In the spirit of good humour, the Tatler Malaysia team couldn’t resist joining in on the conversation, and have rounded up the restaurants and meals we would bring him to during his short stay here.
Restoran Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee
“I’d take Donald Trump to Restoran Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee, one of Kuala Lumpur’s iconic gems known for its spicy, flavour-packed bowls. This place is legendary for its signature Chilli Pan Mee, where chewy noodles are served with a rich, savoury broth, a fried egg and minced pork, all topped off with a generous helping of homemade chilli paste. The real magic happens when you add the chili (three heaping spoons to be exact). The heat hits you in waves, but it’s the perfect balance of spice and umami. I’d encourage Trump to dive in headfirst and embrace the full experience: “Don’t hold back, go all in with the chilli!” It’s the best way to truly appreciate what this place is all about: bold, fiery and unforgettable.”

McDonald’s
“Because let’s be honest, it’s the only “foreign policy” he’ll fully understand. From nasi lemak McD to spicy fried chicken that might make him break a sweat, Malaysia’s McDonald’s is an excellent example of local adaptation. Besides, no matter where he goes, Trump loves a good deal, and where else can you get Ayam Goreng Spicy and a McFlurry for less than a campaign slogan?”

Nasi Kandar Pelita
“Because the harmonious mix of curries will remind him what diversity, equity and inclusion really means.”

Victoria Station
“I'd take POTUS to Victoria Station in Medan Damansara. It's got great steaks, decadent chocolate desserts and a great atmosphere that many KL-ites have come to know and love from times past. But he'll have to belanja the bill!”
—Tania Jayatilaka, Digital Editor
Hot Bird
“I’ll make sure he orders the ultra spicy chicken!”
—Keandra H’ng, Dining Writer
Yafa Restaurant
“Yafa Restaurant, because it serves great Palestinian food!”
—Eke Sumber, Head of Branded Content
