Treating your mother is something that should occur more than once a year but as Mother's Day—which lands on Sunday, May 14 this year—approaches there is even more reason to celebrate your darling mum and any other mother figure(s) in your life. 

Whether you want to take her out for a leisurely lunch, afternoon tea or dinner fit for a queen, here are some of the best places to book a table and celebrate mum this year. The afternoon tea set at The Lobby Lounge adds a touch of modernity to the classics. Think savoury finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and exquisite creations by talented executive pastry chef Andy Yeung. The Mother’s Day delights include the Lavender, which features lemon mint confit and lavender whipped ganache on a rich almond biscuit; Charlotte, with ladyfingers, strawberry mousse and violet berry compote; and Guava, a pink guava confit and jasmine-infused ivory chocolate mousse combination atop raspberry rose sponge.

Afternoon tea is available on May 14 from 12 noon to 3pm; 3pm to 6pm for HK$1,088 for two people with two glasses of Sei Bellissimi Bellini or HK$1,488 for two people with two glasses of NV Duval Leroy, Femme de Champagne, Grand Cru Brut. There is also a Mother’s Day Charlotte cake available in two sizes that will ensure a full celebration.

For a more elaborate meal to indulge in this Mother's Day, two-Michelin-starred and Green-starred Amber is adding enhancements to its weekend lunch and dinner menus over the weekend. Created by chef Richard Ekkebus, the four-course and six-course lunch menus, along with the eight-course dinner menu, feature dishes that make the most of the season including the sayori, or Japanese halfbeak fish, with wheatgrass, horseradish, extra virgin grapeseed oil, kyuri and menegi.

The Mother’s Day four-course (HK$1,988 per person) and six-course lunch (HK$3,108 per person) is available between 12 noon to 1.30pm and comes with 120 minutes of free-flow handpicked Italian sparkling wine, white and red wines as well as non-alcoholic options. The full eight-course Mother’s Day dinner experience is available from 6pm to 8.45pm, at HK$3,318 per person with a complimentary glass of Dom Perignon 2013 Champagne. Children are welcome to join the celebration and can enjoy a special kid's menu with three courses for HK$708 per child.

Treat the mother figure(s) in your life to a nutritious meal at Tin Lung Heen this Mother's Day. Offering a Buddha Jumps over the Wall, which is considered a Chinese delicacy, menu from April to June, there is plenty of time to organise something to celebrate the occasion. This five-course meal (HK$1,988 per person) begins with a Cantonese barbecue platter with roasted suckling pig and marinated chicken, followed by the Buddha Jumps over the Wall dish, which features sea conch, winter melon stuffed with conpoy, fish maw, sea cucumber with shrimp roe, and South African Yoshihama abalone, along with braised glutinous rice with minced garoupa. A wine pairing is also available for an additional HK$1,280 per person.

Spend Sunday indulging with mother dearest at The Lounge's brunch or dinner buffet. The Champagne brunch is filled with fresh seafood including Boston lobsters, crab legs and brown crabs, as well as sashimi, premium caviar, Ibérico ham, carved meat and desserts to round off the experience. In the evening, a dinner buffet is available with a selection of chilled seafood, sushi and sashimi, as well as hot dishes such as braised South African abalone with fish maw, roast ribeye, lamb rack, baked salmon and more. The free-flow brunch at LucAle is an Italian feast made for celebrating mamma. Available at HK$458 per person, the meal kicks off with a premium Italian salumi starter which includes 24-month-aged Prosciutto, burrata and Mandara mozzarella from Campana. The celebration continues with LucAle's pizzetta, which is only available at brunch and combines focaccia and pizza, and a selection of spring salads. For dessert, madre can choose between homemade tiramisu or Sorrento lemon cream with chocolate and strawberries.

The brunch also comes with two hours of Prosecco, house white and red wine, draught Peroni, Aperol Spritz, Campari Spritz, Mimosa, fresh juice and soft drinks. There is also a deluxe package (HK$708 per person) which includes two hours of free-flow Joseph Perrier Champagne. All mothers will also go away with the ultimate symbol of love, a rose.

Head over to French-Japanese restaurant Whisk from May 1 to 31 (from 6:.30pm to 10pm) and enjoy the latest degustation (from HK$980 for six courses; HK$1,288 for ten courses) which features seasonal ingredients from France and Japan that are transformed by chef William Lau. In celebration of French GourMay and Miramar Group's Gourmet Month, Whisk is also offering optional pairings with bubbles from Alsace, Burgundy and Champagne. Highlights from the menu include a kombu-cured Hhamachi with French sorrel and Japanese spring mountain vegetables matched with a crisp Cremant de Bourgogne from Domaine Francois Mikulski, and ocean trout bouillabaisse paired with Premier Cru "Fleur de Champagne" from Duval-Leroy.  A choice of three main courses including lamb saddle with harissa and Japanese sweet curry jelly topped with Moët & Chandon Rosé Grand Vintage 2006, is also available.
