The Japanese tea has become so sought after, matcha flavoured treats are as common as chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. Matcha desserts are abundant in the Klang Valley, from tea houses showcasing a range of varieties to dessert specialists infusing well-loved sweets with the tea. Bask’s Matcha Cheesecake

Matcha has made its way into nearly all popular desserts, but one of the best ways to enjoy this green tea is in a burnt Basque cheesecake. Nestled in APW Bangsar, Bask specialises in silky smooth cheesecakes encased in perfectly crisp crusts.
You’ll be able to tuck into a bright green cheesecake infused with Yuri matcha, known for its umami profile and grassy notes that perfectly balance the flavours of a decadent cheesecake. Order this by the slice or as whole cakes to take home.

If you’ve been wanting to try matcha but find yourself intimidated by its bitterness, Sōfte has the perfect introduction for you. Innovative soft serve is this spot’s signature, pairing guava soft serve with olive oil and custard ice cream with shaved salted egg yolk.
Its mint matcha soft serve brings together mint chocolate chip ice cream and green tea soft serve with soaked matcha sponge, coconut jelly, and pandan syrup.

Orito’s So Matcha
Focusing on crafting all its bakes from scratch with only the finest ingredients, Orito is known for its perfectly golden pastries. Despite its best seller being the almond encrusted Paris-Brest, its pastry case houses an assortment of Choux-based treats including a matcha rendition.

Inspired by the pineapple buns or polo buns of Hong Kong, Hejau’s matcha variety features a distinctive crackly crust and an interior filled with slices of butter. Perfect for a decadent breakfast or midday treat, you can also source sweeter desserts here, from matcha brownies to matcha lemon bars.

It is no secret that All About Chew is a must-visit when it comes to soft cookies. Each of its locations, now dotted around the Klang Valley, is equipped with a lineup of flavours, from classic chocolate chip to raspberry white chocolate.
Its soft matcha cookies, however, prove to be a crowd-favourite. The cookie specialist used Niko Neko’s Yuri matcha to lend these bakes subtle hints of umami and crisp grassiness. This dessert is made all the more special with additions of caramelised Valrhona white chocolate.
Matcha Eight’s Ice Cream
Specialising in premium Japanese ice cream, as its name suggests, Matcha Eight infuses this classic frozen dessert with single-origin tea powder from Kyoto Prefecture. All ice cream flavours find ways to platform different types of Japanese tea from sencha to hojicha. Matcha aficionados are bound to have a field day here, with its menu delineating the varying degrees of tea powder added into each scoop.
