Here is the exciting lineup of restaurants that will be participating
In the Mood for Food, Tatler Dining Malaysia’s street food festival, is back for the second year in a row. Held over three evenings from June 23-25, 2023, this year’s Coachella-themed celebration will feature eight leading restaurants who will be localising familiar street fare.

In partnership with Sime Darby Property, the event will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) Piano Lounge, situated within KLGCC Resort. One of the most coveted addresses for luxury living, the resort was chosen for its unique balance between leisure, culture, nature, and sustainability.
We’re so excited to reveal the full lineup for this year’s In the Mood for Food. Each restaurant has contributed tremendously to our food and beverage scene and will be showcasing Malaysian flavours in a way that has not been done before.

Biang Biang Noodle Bar

Helmed by chef Xian Liew, Biang Biang Noodle Bar modernises hand-smacked noodles, traditionally from the Xi’an Shanxi province. Since young, Liew has always loved turning instant noodles into his own complex creations. The team is now on a mission to share the beauty of biangbiang noodles with Malaysians.
Dáo

Specialty dessert café Dáo prides itself on comforting soy desserts, aiming to share the traditional delicacy in a modern setting. Established in 2018, the recipes served have been passed down three generations from the founder’s family, based in Ipoh. The café just opened its seventh branch in May 2023.

Fowlboys

Known best for Southern-style buttermilk fried chicken, there are few things not to like about Fowlboys’ chicken and burgers. Chicken is brined in buttermilk, fried to perfection, and served slathered with a choice of sauce with fluffy potato buns. While the business began during the pandemic, it now has two locations in Hartamas and SS15.
Hijau Kuala Lumpur

Established by chef Idan in 2019, Hijau is known for its delicious yet nutritious plant-based offerings. Since opening, the eatery has partnered up with multiple local brands to share its love for vegan and vegetarian offerings, putting a plant-based twist on local Malaysian fare. While previously based at REXKL, Hijau will be moving to its permanent location at DC Mall.

Madam Kwan’s

For authentic Malaysian flavours, look no further than Madam Kwan’s, an institution loved by locals. Founded in 1999, its recipes have been perfected by 90-year-old Kwan Swee Lian, often seen in her iconic hat and glasses. Firm favourites at the establishment include the nasi lemak or Hokkien mee.
Pablo’$

Based in Penang, Pablo’$ began during the lockdown as a home business serving up tacos, but due to its popularity, the humble taco spot grew into a food truck. Now, Pablo’$ has two physical food lots, along Penang’s Bishop Street and even at KL-based dive bar, BAC.
Phil’s Pizza

Founded in 2020 during the lockdown, Phil’s Pizza is known for its New York slices with a local twist. With its original location in Bangsar and a secondary shop in Rex KL, Phil’s Pizza is owned by Sara Rashid, who was inspired during a trip to New York. More than just a pizza parlour, it is known for its retro visuals, creative merchandise and quirky packaging.

Waig by Chipta11a combines the conventional Japanese omakase experience with local flavours from Borneo. Led by head chef Michael Yee, the team innovates to curate a menu that is both nostalgic and creative. Suited to curious diners looking for a new experience, Waig by Chipta11a’s flavoursome fare will surely excite.
