The coffee brand’s BGC flagship has collaborated with the popular Mexican restaurant to come up with new avocado dishes available until January 5, 2025

Avocados are known to be nutritious, delicious, and versatile fruits, its distinctly green, creamy flesh utilised in both sweet and savoury dishes. However, they are also notorious for being seasonal and difficult to source in our corner of the globe. Still, this has not deterred homegrown brand Harlan + Holden Coffee (HHC) from further expanding their growing food category by adding more avocado-centric dishes, hinting at a reliable supply. In addition to their avo toast launched in December 2023, they have approached the talents behind Mexican restaurant Lagrima to come up with three more dishes to elevate HHC’s avocado experience.

According to the HHC team, they engaged Lagrima’s Mano Lotho and Daryl Chang for the collaboration because they were “impressed by Lagrima’s culinary creations,” giving them confidence in Lagrima’s ability to help them unlock the full potential of their avocado menu as they worked together with HHC’s chefs. Aside from their combined culinary prowess, the two brands also share very similar values when it comes to their ideal customer experience. For HHC, they believe in giving their guests a “15 minutes of cool” coffee experience, one where customers are given some respite from their hectic day before they have to head back into the world. Same, they say, with Lagrima which offers fuss-free dishes, resonating with HHC’s mission to save people’s time for more important things.

With ensured supply from the time they launched their avo toast, HHC’s chefs are able to execute their collaboration dishes with Lagrima without a hitch. Their house sourdough is the perfect vessel for the avocado Caesar sandwich with its components of roasted chicken, lettuce, egg, bacon, cheese, Caesar dressing, and avocado chopped and mixed so you get everything with each bite. It would be remiss to not include a taco in a Lagrima menu, and the avo chicken tostada is a balanced combination of sweet and tangy with each crispy bite. Still, avocado fans really should be giving this collaboration’s avocado potato toast more love. It sounds and looks like a potato salad, but with balanced proportions of chorizo and the dressed slices of potatoes atop their sturdy sourdough, it makes for a truly flavourful and well-executed dish.

Stay tuned to HHC’s social media channels for future collaborations, probably next with their Indonesian stores as they open more branches here and in Indonesia. For now, we can enjoy these avocado creations in the BGC flagship store exclusively up to January 5, 2025.
