Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, your anniversary, or any day of the year just for the fun of it (we prefer the last one), mix up your date night spots in Malaysia with these insider recommendations from the Tatler team.

Nero Nero Kuala Lumpur

"My pick would be Nero Nero in DC Mall. Indoors, it's got a cosy vibe but if you dine outside, especially if you get a table on the deck that's pretty far away from the rest, it feels like you have the whole place to yourselves. The food is fantastic, and great for sharing too as the portions are huge. I recommend to dine during the sunset hour which adds to the romance."

Rowan and Parsley Food Atelier, Johor Bahru

"An oldie but a goodie is Rowan & Parsley in Johor. It's set in an industrial area so if you've never been there before, there's an element of surprise when you enter its lush grounds aglow with fairy lights. The quirky interiors are charming and cosy, and the menu is comfort food like barbecued ribs and pasta. It's ideal for a low-key but lovely evening."

Alta, Kuala Lumpur

"I'd visit Alta Cafe for a lavish spread of snacks and sharing plates, paired with a selection of natural wines. Try the Carte Blanche menu and leave the selection of dishes up to the team—you won't be disappointed."

Luce Osteria Contemporanea

"This cosy Italian restaurant in the heart of KL is the perfect for date nights. It offers great food, an extensive wine list, and an option for alfresco dining with an incredible view of the KL Tower. Located at the end of Lorong Raja Chulan, you can get the balance of a quiet, peaceful dinner and still be surrounded by the vibrant energy of the area."

Tickets KL Bar

"There are a few private booths that are perfect for two, which also can be enclosed with curtains for more privacy. The lighting is moody and cosy, with great cocktails to boot. Also, it's the perfect spot to wind down from a dinner nearby (my pick would be Maillard Grill), but the music is good and the setting is intimate—perfect for a date night in my books."

Chū by Fifty Tales, Kuala Lumpur

"If you’re like me, and prefer a dinner date with fun-filled activities, RexKL is the place to go. You won’t be left wanting at this unique hub that is right smack in the middle of Petaling Street. It boasts, among others, an open-air café, a food court with a variety of offerings (the noodles from Chū by Fifty Tales are a must-try), a wine bar, a bookshop, and a rooftop restaurant-cum-bar that serves modern East Asian cuisine."
