Your ultimate guide to finding the latest Parisian breakfast dessert pastry in sunny Singapore

What do cronuts, cruffins and croons have in common? They’re all viral cousin creations of the classic French croissant. Now, 2024 welcomes a new relative to the flaky family: the crookie. Taking the best of both worlds between two popular baked creations, it sees a split croissant stuffed with a belly full of raw cookie dough and then baked to a burgeoning toothsome mass. Originated by Boulangerie Louvard, a Parisian boutique bakery, this Tiktok famous pastry has even made it to multiple channels of French national television earlier this February.

Most recently, the crookie made our shores where local bakeries put their own spin on things. Fancy one? Here’s where to get them while they are still piping hot.

1. Swish Rolls

The croon-famed bakery cashes in on a new trend and this time, they’ve got yet another winning recipe. Veering away from one-note decadence, Swish Rolls has gone ahead to create a chocolate chip crookie enhanced with flavours of pistachios and matcha tea from Uji, Japan. The former is roasted for extra depth and nuttiness while the latter slaps on a touch of earthiness. It is also deliberately halved in size for easier eating as well as to make it more enticing than it already is.

These assorted flavours, easily identifiable by colour, offer fans a handful to choose from.
