The popular hotpot restaurant will launch a new concept that offers traditional Hong Kong and cha chaan teng-inspired flavours
Big JJ Seafood Hotpot, renowned for its vibrant and bustling dining experience, is set to open its new brand, JJ’s, at BaseHall 02 on December 18.
This launch follows the departure of Both Street, the Taiwanese pork belly bun, or gua bao, specialists, who will continue to serve their buns at their Yuen Long location from December onwards.
Known for its lively atmosphere and focus on local ingredients, Big JJ has become a hot spot for hotpot in the city. Its unique approach combines a fun, boisterous environment with a menu that emphasises fresh produce such as yellow beef from Hong Kong. JJ’s, crafted by its founder Peter Pang, aims to extend this ethos, offering a cha chaan teng-inspired menu that celebrates the essence of Hong Kong’s culinary traditions.
The lunch menu at JJ’s, available from 11am to 2.30 pm, will feature affordable rice dishes with hearty toppings such as Henry’s tomato curry ox tongue (a BaseHall 02 exclusive); pork chop with fried egg; fried sole fillet with corn cream; and sausages with luncheon meat and fried egg, with prices ranging from HK$68 to HK$88. For those seeking a quick but satisfying bite, macaroni soup sets will also be available until 4.30pm, some of which include tender hanger slices in tomato soup or satay sauce and start from HK$68.
Come evening, JJ’s transforms into a grill lover’s paradise, serving up dishes like their signature tender hanger iron grills; tomahawk pork chop iron grills; and fried chicken iron grills, among others from 6pm to 9pm. Prices start at HK$188 and come with JJ’s special homemade gravy, borscht soup, unlimited French fries and a drink.
Alongside its food offerings, JJ’s will also present a variety of drinks, including traditional milk tea and lemon coke, as well as a selection of wines to pair with the dinner menu.
The opening of JJ’s at BaseHall 02 on December 18 marks a new chapter for Big JJ Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant, promising to bring the same energy and quality that made the original a beloved spot in Hong Kong’s dining scene.
