Peranakan mainstay Nonya Delicatessen has been pleasing the neighbourhood’s taste buds for years, and for good reason. 4. Nature’s Drop

An exquisite tea drinking experience awaits you at Nature’s Drop, which opened earlier this year. Despite being the new kid on the block, Nature’s Drop has already made a name for itself among tea aficionados. Part of its draw is the special attention given to brewing tea, which includes techniques like grilling tea leaves in a tangerine peel before steeping them.

Another highlight of this cozy teahouse is its tea hotpot, which presents a curated selection of teas to enjoy alongside accompaniments like aged tangerine peanuts, lychees, and jujubes.

5. Tok Panjang

The phrase tok panjang, meaning “a feast”, encapsulates perfectly the richness and diversity of Peranakan culture, with the borrowing of Hokkien word “tok” (table) and the Malay word “panjang” (long). It’s an apt name for an eatery that makes Peranakan food fit for a feast. Try the fragrant nasi kunyit, which features turmeric rice with a chicken leg glistening with curry, as well as the thick and luscious mee siam. The kuehs are a must-try here, especially the kueh ko swee coated in desiccated coconut, as well as the iconic nine-layered kueh lapis
