Gelato is making a scene in the dessert waves, with new spots popping up every other week. Here’s a round up of the best we’ve had so far around KL and beyond

Beautiful cobbled streets, narrow alleys, and the smell of fresh baked bread and herbs is what you might imagine when you think of gelato. The cornerstone of dessert in Italy—besides tiramisu—is now making waves in Malaysia, with many new outlets around the town.

Gelato, known for its creamy and denser texture in comparison to ice cream, contains less fat but is still just as satiating. Churned at a slower rate and typically served at a warmer temperature is the reason why you may find it melts in your mouth quicker, leading to a more robust experience of flavours.

We might not have perfectly imperfect cobblestone streets, but we do have ample flavour inspirations that gelato absorbs and churns out.

Check out these spots to get your gelato fix, many of them with incredible flavour selection with seasonal ingredients, and nod to our local culinary landscape.
