Your food and drinks guide on the Disney Adventure: 15 things to try before you disembark

Consider this the famed Mickey waffle’s more indulgent sibling—dusted in cinnamon sugar and available at both Pixar Market and Enchanted Summer breakfast buffet spreads, but not every day. It makes its appearance later in the sailing, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for this wildly popular iteration of the Mickey waffle. Worth saving room for whenever it shows up.

Attention adults: do not bypass the kids’ food counter on principle. The chicken tenders and mac and cheese that you can find at lunch are among the best casual bites on the ship, and there is no judgement when you add them to your plate. Our pick? The chicken pot pie. It comes in a fairly large serving so adults, do take it upon yourselves to help the kiddos out by digging in. 

If you know, you know. By now, guests who have had the chance to board the Adventure will know of how popular Mowgli’s Eatery, the dedicated Indian quick-service restaurant inspired by The Jungle Book, has become amongst guests. It serves food that genuinely rivals what you would find on land. Well-spiced, generous and full of flavour, with vegetarian options available alongside the main menu. You’ll probably find yourselves returning to it more than once. Do make a reservation on Disney’s Navigator App to secure a table ahead of time as it will be busy. Some guests are known to have skipped their rotational dining spots to dine here instead. 

One of the ship’s more low-key pleasures: the hot dogs served at the Infinity Bar, perched alongside the Tony Stark-inspired infinity pool in Marvel Landing. Simple, satisfying and exactly what you want between activities on a sea day. The setting—open deck, ocean views, a pool that looks like it belongs in a superhero’s Malibu residence—makes the whole stop even more enjoyable.

Specialty coffee such as flavoured lattes are easily available on the ship at the lounges and bars. If you’re having lunch at Pixar Market Restaurant, you can also order a specialty coffee here. It is a small yet fun Disney touch that turns a coffee order into something a little more memorable. At Tiana’s Bayou Lounge—inspired by The Princess and the Frog, warm-lit and dressed in magnolia blossoms and Spanish moss—serves specialty coffees and premium teas alongside its famous beignets. And in the Concierge section, the Aladdin-inspired lounge offers free-flow Bacha Coffee and TWG tea throughout the day.

Tatler tip: each specialty coffee cup can be crafted with a Disney character of your choice. Just let your friendly barista know who’s your favourite.

The beignets are the reason to visit Tiana’s Bayou Lounge, and they earn their reputation. Fried, generously dusted in powdered sugar and served warm, tuck into these heavenly soft pastries as a pre-lunch treat or an afternoon detour. The atmosphere—New Orleans by way of a Disney film set—makes them taste even better. Order more than you think you need. Try both the caramel and chocolate dip if you’re feeling extra indulgent. And if you order a set of beignet with a drink, it comes with a collectible plate and mini bowl set that features Louis the Alligator from The Princess and the Frog.

The Lilo & Stitch-inspired spot on deck serves classic American food with a Hawaiian North Shore vibe, and the burgers here are not to be missed. Served with your choice of sweet potato fries or regular fries, these burgers are juicy, well-seasoned and exactly right for a relaxed afternoon at sea.

Now this is another outdoor quick-service kiosk worth visiting more than once. Inspired by Moana, it rotates its menu across the sailing. On our visit, we had the Hainanese chicken rice, candied yams, huli huli chicken, macaroni salad and Sichuan tofu. The range reflects the ship’s Singapore homeport well, and you can opt for a small portion of each dish so that you get to try a bit of everything. 

Free, unlimited and available in different flavours—the soft serve at Wheezy’s Freezies is one of the small daily rituals that you’ll find yourself getting used to aboard the Disney Adventure (or any of the Disney cruises, for that matter). You’ll find yourself having a strawberry and vanilla swirl one afternoon, or a pure chocolate cone the next. Make it a point to try a different combination each day. 

Another Disney Cruise highlight: free pizzas, available throughout the day. On the Adventure, the available flavours are cheese, BBQ chicken, pepperoni, margherita and even a plant-based sausage version. If you have no idea when to fill your stomach with pizza because of all the other available options on the cruise, think of it as a between-meals stop, a late-night option or an easy post-swim snack.

Tatler tip: you can take the pizzas back to your stateroom to enjoy on the verandah or as you sit back to enjoy one of the many Disney movies and shows available on TV. 

There are two premium dining options available on board, and one of them is Mike & Sulley’s Flavors of Asia. Within this space are four dining options—a full-service Japanese steakhouse, a teppanyaki room, omakase-style dining and an outdoor sushi-sashimi experience. Inspired by the famous Japanese-style eatery in the Pixar animation Monsters, Inc., this premium restaurant offers an elevated dining experience on the ship for those who fancy a treat. Try the nine-course omakase, a well-paced and well-executed meal that builds towards a showstopper: the A5 Satsuma striploin beef, served with broccolini. Fresh ingredients throughout, but this is the dish that lingers. Book it early—reservations are required and it fills up.

Dining on Disney Adventure does not end with food. Spellbound, tucked into a shadowy corner of Town Square and inspired by the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, is the ship’s most theatrically conceived bar—rich detailing, a woodland atmosphere and a cocktail menu framed around “potions” that are, fortunately, entirely benign. The drinks are well-made and the atmosphere is lively. A proper send-off, especially on your final evening aboard the Adventure.

The most sought-after item on the ship, and the one that requires the most initiative. The Mickey ice cream bar does not show itself easily—you will need to ask for it specifically at certain meal times but the effort is worthwhile. Ask for it at dinner time and it’ll be served in a bowl with Mickey-shaped sprinkles. What’s not to love? Creamy, generously sized and shaped in that unmistakable silhouette, it deserves the hype. Do not disembark without having had one.

Not a restaurant, but worth knowing about. Room service runs around the clock on the Disney Adventure, and for guests with a verandah, ordering breakfast and taking it outside is one of the quieter pleasures of the sailing. An early morning hot chocolate, pastries, the ocean, no schedule. Even if you’re in a room without a verandah, it’s a lovely start to your morning when breakfast is served by the ship’s friendly wait staff as you enjoy your meal in the privacy of your own stateroom. 

It is a small thing, but on a ship this full of activity, the stillness before the day begins is worth seeking out.
