Mooncakes are a key symbol to this momentous celebration. Use this list and the gift of giving to make the most out of this festive day

Falling upon the first week of October, Mid Autumn Festival graces us with mooncakes, whether you like them the traditional style, made with ice cream, alcohol, or mochi—there's something for everyone.

Celebrated in Chinese culture, it follows the lunar calendar and is held on the 15th day of the 8th month. It is believed by the Chinese that the moon is at its fullest and brightest, and coincides with a period of harvest that falls in the middle of Autumn.

Dating back thousands of years, mooncakes carry deep history within Chinese mythology, and is connected with the Goddess of the Moon, Chang'e, and the overthrow of the Yuan Dynasty. Find them typically filled with red bean or lotus paste, but with more flavours available that is turning this traditional pastry into a dessert.
