Michelin has unveiled new additions to its Bib Gourmand list, celebrating establishments that deliver high-quality cooking at reasonable prices

There’s a special kind of joy in finding a meal that feels like a steal. That rare combination of skill, flavour and care, served up in a place that doesn’t charge you for the privilege of existing in its presence. Hong Kong and Macau excel at this—both cities have long been proof that exceptional cooking doesn’t have to come with a wine list that requires a second mortgage.

The 2025 Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau has announced its latest Bib Gourmand selection, recognising ten new restaurants—nine in Hong Kong and one in Macau—where diners can enjoy high-quality food at affordable prices. The additions highlight a range of cuisines, from classic Cantonese and Chiu Chow specialities to Mediterranean, Thai and Indian flavours.

A reminder of why these restaurants matter

Not every meal needs to come with a parade of amuse-bouches and a waiter who speaks in hushed reverence about the terroir of your butter. Sometimes, what you want is a bowl of noodles so perfectly springy they snap back like a well-tuned guitar string or a dumpling that threatens to scald your tongue but is worth the risk anyway.

These are the places that don’t deal in theatre, just seriously good food, cooked by people who know exactly what they’re doing. They’re where you go when you just want to eat well—no nonsense, no ceremony, just plate after plate of the stuff that keeps a city’s food scene alive. And if that’s not worth celebrating, I don’t know what is.
