Quench your thirst with our bi-weekly recommendations of alcoholic tipples that please

With the recent spike in coronavirus cases, we all need a drink (or two). Thankfully, you can do this in the comfort and safety of your home with cocktail delivery services from the likes of ZoukShop and Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall. But of course, going back to phase 2 doesn't mean you should permanently hunker down in the house until this blows over. You can still go out and support your favourite bars—albeit in groups of five, rather than eight—while keeping in mind the safety restrictions in place. Watering holes such as the newly-opened Republic Bar, Jekyll & Hyde and Raffles Courtyard have put in place stringent measurements to ensure everyone's safety in this difficult period.

1. Republic Bar

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore’s newly launched East Wing is home to new dining concepts, including Republic Bar, created in collaboration with Proof & Company. The cocktail menu pays homage to flavours, ingredients and sensations inspired by the influential hallmarks of the 1960s, with creations such as Mythical Beast and City Circuit.

The former takes cues from the ‘mythical beast’ that was supposedly seen on the island, and is concocted with Brass Lion Gin, dry sherry and port city syrup. Inspired by the Grand Prix, the latter is a luscious blend of Plantation 3 Stars Rum, guava, wolfberry and champagne. Book here.

3. Jekyll & Hyde

One of Singapore’s first bespoke cocktail bars has rebranded itself as a ‘cocktail bar and kitchen’ when it moved to its new premises on Neil Road. That said, the cocktail programme continues to anchor the refreshed concept with innovative tipples that inspire and delight.

Highlights include Jungle Bird, the bar team’s version of the tiki cocktail that combines pineapple juice, lime and agave with Milagro bianco tequila, Campari and Plantation Xaymaca Jamaican rum. Another palate pleaser is Peach Please, where the gin-infused dried mango is mixed with vine peach liqueur and lime juice. Book here.
