The powerhouse sisters have teamed up with the whisky brand to create two distinct single malt expressions, as well as bespoke lifestyle pieces that celebrate their growing years in Scotland

Renowned fashion designer Stella McCartney and her sister, acclaimed photographer Mary McCartney, have been all around the world, but their love for Scotland has never wavered. Spending most of their growing years in the motherland shaped their passion for sustainability and deep love for nature, which is why it’s no surprise that both sisters teamed up with The Macallan to release the third instalment of The Macallan Harmony Collection this year. First launched in 2021, the collection is a series of limited-edition whiskies that are encased in sustainable packaging.

The latest release comprises the Amber Meadow and the travel retail exclusive Green Meadow. Working with Stella and Mary, The Macallan whisky mastery team created two distinct expressions using a combination of sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks; the flavour profiles recall natural Scottish grasslands and vivid memories of the sisters living in their farmhouse, where streams and roaming horses accompany the nostalgic smell of the countryside.

Having said that, the Amber Meadow promises aromas of fresh citrus, honeysuckle, vanilla and ripe barley fields. On the palate, it follows with lively notes of lemon, almond and green tea before giving way to a sweeter and longer finish—a Macallan signature of the sherry-seasoned oak cask. On the other hand, the Green Meadow captures the essence of petrichor, or that earthy scent you smell when the rain falls on dry soil, alongside a nose of fresh oranges, delicate aromas of primrose and bluebells. It drinks of vanilla, rich with lemon and redolent of fresh oak and almonds before a classy creamy finish.

Similar to the previous editions, which saw cocoa husks and repurposed coffee bean husks recycled into packaging, the third annual release features discarded meadow cuttings in the box and bottle labels. It just goes to show that beauty can also come from reusing natural materials that are at the end of their lives.

A first for the Harmony Collection—and for the sisters—Stella and Mary also launched Together: A Collection for The Macallan by Stella and Mary McCartney. Harnessing their individual strengths, the sisters designed 11 bespoke pieces that hark back to their memories of Scotland and the time they spent at The Macallan Estate. “This range wouldn’t be what it is if we weren’t able to spend that time with The Macallan. I felt really proud to bring my little sister with me to The Macallan Estate on Speyside, as I knew Stella would fall in love with this just as much as I did,” enthuses Mary.

Unique in its own right, each handcrafted item is made by master artisans using techniques honed over centuries: think stylish glassware tinted with natural minerals, plush ceramicware wrapped with alternative leather made from apples, brass accessories and even a lambswool blanket to snuggle in.

The Macallan global creative director Jaume Ferras, shares: “Together: A Collection for The Macallan by Stella and Mary McCartney is unlike anything The Macallan has ever introduced, showcasing how we continue to innovate and challenge ourselves, yet the respect for nature reflected by Stella and Mary’s beautiful designs is at the heart of our brand and has been for almost 200 years.”
