A landmark collaboration between Johnnie Walker Vault and Olivier Rousteing arrives in Singapore with a series of exclusive tastings, couture-inspired rituals and one of the rarest whisky releases of the year
Singapore feels almost made for a launch of this calibre. Few cities combine the infrastructure, the connoisseurship, and the ever-rising discernment for luxury—in this case, whisky—crafted with depth, heritage and spectacle. This November, Johnnie Walker Vault and Olivier Rousteing unveiled The Couture Blend—their second collaboration—through a series of events at Marina Bay Sands, The Whisky Distillery, and Changi Airport Terminal 3.
The collaboration pairs Rousteing’s haute couture sensibility with Johnnie Walker’s blending heritage and mastery. The Couture Blend is anchored by ghost whiskies of genuine rarity: Port Ellen 1978, Caledonian 1977 and Cardhu 12 Year-Old Special Release. Port Ellen and Caledonian—both long-closed distilleries—lend the blend a depth and scarcity that make it far more than a collector’s curiosity.

Tatler joined Johnnie Walker for an evening of refined indulgence as the story—first unveiled in New York—continued on Singapore’s shores. At Spago Dining Room by Wolfgang Puck, perched high above Marina Bay Sands, the guest list glittered with regional stars: Lee Dong-wook and Sandara Park from South Korea, Tóc Tiên from Vietnam, and Apo Wattanagitiphat from Thailand. They arrived to Blue Label couture cocktails before sitting down to a four-course dinner by Executive Chef Greg Bess.
Diageo’s SEA Managing Director Preeti Arora Razdan opened the evening, setting the tone for a night where craftsmanship, creativity and couture converged. Each course was paired with one of the rare single malts that form the complex layers of The Couture Blend—Port Ellen 1978, from the now-closed Islay distillery; Caledonian 1977, a grain whisky from Edinburgh; and Cardhu 12 Year-Old Special Release, while guests discovered ghost whiskies such as Port Dundas and Caledonian.
Master Blender Dr Emma Walker and Diageo’s Global Luxury Marketing & Experience Director Rowan Régnier then guided guests through the philosophy behind the blend, before leading them into the Hologram Room for its formal reveal. The mood throughout was one of quiet awe: an encounter with whiskies seldom seen, culminating in a blend just as—if not, even more—rarefied.

The celebration moved from the JW Vault-transformed Spago to behind the velvet ropes at Marquee Singapore, where a Blue Label after-party lit the room in shades of electric blue and gold. Guests—including Lee Dong-wook, Apo, Tóc Tiên and Dara—raised many a toast to an expression built on rare craft and modern swagger. The night opened with a guided tasting by Dr Walker, followed by a bespoke Blue Label cocktail created by World Class Bartender of the Year, Tryson Quek.
If the dinner showcased the artistry of the blend, the after-party celebrated the energy behind it: the “Keep Walking” spirit elevated to couture heights.
Private mentoring: getting hands-on with blending
Over the following four days, Johnnie Walker Vault ran by-invitation-only Private Mentoring Sessions at Spago. Led by Dr Walker and Gunn, participants worked with some of Diageo’s rarest single malts, learning the mechanics of blending before creating their own bespoke whisky under expert guidance.
It’s an approach that is less about collecting bottles, more about understanding the craft behind them. For those genuinely curious about how a blend is built, these sessions offered rare access.
