From 3D-printed, couture-inspired decanters to cognac-coloured footwear, this collaboration is not like the others

Hennessy has unveiled its latest celebrity collaboration with British fashion designer and creative director of Fendi, Kim Jones, for the Hennessy X.O x Kim Jones collection, featuring the Masterpiece decanter, Limited Edition bottle, and a luxury sneaker designed by Jones. The collaboration follows in the footsteps of other Hennessy collaborators like American architect Frank Gehry, Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang and film director Ridley Scott.

Produced using 3D printing technology and finished by hand, the Masterpiece decanter features a specially developed titanium casing that wraps around the bottle in undulating fashion in a nod to the couture technique of draping and the practice of carefully enveloping bottles in tissue paper by hand at the turn of the 20th century. The base of the decanter nods to the barrels used to age eaux-de-vie that are eventually blended to create Hennessy X.O. The cognac can be extracted using a fusil, an elegant and playful ritual to serve a glass of the Hennessy X.O blend.

Meanwhile, the Hennessy X.O Limited Edition 'ready-to-wear' version of the decanter is also available, encased in an aluminium second skin that allows the signature curves of the bottle to come through while retaining the couture aspect of the collaboration with its "off-shoulder" silhouette.

The collaboration's footwear component comprises the HNY Low limited-edition sneaker by Kim Jones, which takes inspiration from early basketball shoes and is produced in an LVMH-owned shoe factory in Italy. The sneaker features a light cognac-coloured nubuck leather upper and a technical sole in tonal grooved rubber imprinted with cognac vines and the Hennessy X.O x Kim Jones logo. The packaging completes the overall experience, with each pair of sneakers sheathed in cotton dust bags bound by a high-end drawstring and presented in an oak box that revisits the barrels used to age the eaux-de-vie.
