First of its kind in more ways than one, the GuachiMonton is finished in orange tequila liqueur casks and bottled in an architectural red bottle

Luxury tequila meets cultural tribute in 1800 Tequila’s latest release, the 1800 GuachiMonton. More than just an exceptional Añejo, this striking red-bottled spirit is a toast to the legacy of Los Guachimontones, Jalisco’s ancient circular pyramids and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave, patiently grown for up to eight years in the Tequila Valley’s lowlands, 1800 GuachiMonton undergoes a meticulous 40-hour roasting in masonry ovens before being double-distilled. Aged for at least 12 months in American and French oak barrels, it then takes an unprecedented turn, a first-of-its-kind finish in orange tequila liqueur casks. This final flourish infuses the golden-amber liquid with a layered citrus complexity, setting it apart in a category saturated with convention.

But 1800 GuachiMonton isn’t just about what’s inside the bottle. The trapezoidal red ceramic decanter, crowned with a wooden cap, pays homage to the distinctive architecture and red clay of Los Guachimontones. In a fitting tribute, 1800 Tequila is actively supporting the preservation of the landmark, its museum, and cultural initiatives tied to the region.

The Jakarta launch of 1800 GuachiMonton unfolded at Tom’s by Tom Aikens at The Langham Jakarta, an elegant stage for the debut of this groundbreaking Añejo. In attendance was JJ Lim, 1800 Tequila’s Regional Brand Ambassador for Asia, who introduced GuachiMonton to Indonesia and led the evening’s festivities. When asked about tequila’s shift from a party staple to a spirit meant for sipping, JJ acknowledges the change has been gradual, especially in Asia, but finds “excitement in being part of its ongoing evolution.” He described his first impression of 1800 GuachiMonton as pure delight, like unwrapping a holiday gift, drawn in by its bold color and striking design.

“1800 GuachiMonton captures the soul of Mexican tradition,” says Alex Coronado, Master Distiller and Head of Production. “Its flavors echo the orange groves of Jalisco and the time-honored ritual of savoring Añejo tequila with fresh citrus. This is a first for 1800—and for tequila lovers everywhere.” Best enjoyed neat, over ice, or in a refined take on an Old Fashioned, 1800 GuachiMonton pairs beautifully with Mexican chocolate for an immersive tasting experience. The 1800 GuachiMonton is now available at select restaurants, bars, and lounges in Indonesia.
