The Doctor’s Residence by Dr Fern

After bidding farewell to Landmark, Dr Fern has re-emerged on the third floor of the Pottinger Hotel in a space that feels part Victorian parlour, part fever dream. Emerald velvet, lava lamps casting strange glows, botanical prints climbing the walls, and an outdoor terrace where plants and DJs share the stage. The gin collection numbers over 400, one of the city’s deepest, and the cocktail menu reads like medical files: each drink comes with a “prescription label” listing diagnosis, dosage, taste profile, side effects and clinical observations. Ingredients wander where few bars dare: squid, bacon, jellyfish, pickled watermelon rind and floral compounds inspired by literary hallucinogens.

Sit at the counter and tell the bartender your symptoms, and let them prescribe from the hidden cabinets. The “off-menu” treatments here are where the real experimentation happens, and the house-made tinctures never appear on any chart.
