The Moment Group's new restaurant, HuChi, brings the Southeast taste you've been craving

Up until now, the country has been struggling with the effects of the pandemic. It has sent major businesses and industries into a decline. But, despite the darkness that has been cast over the food and beverage industry during the pandemic, The Moment Group brings us a glint of hope through their newly launched shophouse, HuChi, a restaurant with a name that roughly translates to "bringer of light."

Moment co-founder and creative director Abba Napa shares, "My co-founders Eli, Jon, and I have spent many years living and working not only in Manila but also in other cities in the region and we love Southeast Asian fare, especially when experienced in the setting of a hawkers market where you can try a breadth of dishes from multiple origins in one sweep."

Launching a new restaurant amidst these trying times will be challenging, but the idea behind it and a delectable menu definitely shows promise.

The unique experience that Napa and her co-founders aim to bring to each HuChi guest will be special as they aim to bring nostalgia to the forefront and take you around Southeast Asia through the flavourful dishes– a concept unlike others under TMG's umbrella.

At HuChi, you'll get to explore a delectable menu of pho, noodles, rice, and rolls, be it for dine-in or delivery.

A few must-tries from HuChi's pho selection are poached chicken pho (pho ga) which comes bathed in a rich broth balanced with ginger grass lemon oil. Their shrimp and crispy softshell crab pho (pho hai), has seafood, fresh herbs, and is spiced with cilantro chilli lime oil for an added pop. HuChi's dine-in only pho (pho suon bo), includes slow-braised beef rib and tendon nuggets in-between rice noodles and fresh herbs, complemented with garlic chilli oil. What makes their menu even better?: the marinades, meatballs, and sausage used in HuChi pho are all made in house.

Lovers of spicy eats should get their hands on the spicy pad thai with shrimp and crispy egg omelette. In this dish, you will notice tinges of sweet, sour, and savoury flavours, paired with crispy egg omelette shards. But if you're looking for a quick bite of something more traditional, take a bite out of HuChi's banh mi, which is a spin on a classic Vietnamese baguette sandwich. Their version has house-made meatballs, Vietnamese ham, chilli and liver pate, pickled vegetables, and crunchy kropek chips too.

While the menu is noodle-forward, it makes use of the freshest local produce to recreate dishes originating mainly from the cuisines of Vietnam and Thailand. Through the use of known local cooking styles like charring, roasting, and grilling, deeper flavours and eye-catching colours are coaxed out, much to our stomach's delight.
