This month-long festival invites diners to indulge in fine Victorian produce through a delectable brunch fare
We all can agree that nothing beats a hearty brunch after a gruelling week. If you are an avid brunch-goer, you’ll be happy to know that the Melbourne Brunch Festival begins in Singapore today.
Organised by Global Victoria and Agriculture Victoria, the month-long extravaganza will feature a thrilling line-up of participating venues, with each establishment shining the spotlight on Victorian produce.
“Melbourne Brunch Festival will allow brunch-loving Singaporeans to indulge further in Victoria’s lush produce by way of delicious renditions and menus,” says Rebecca Hall, commissioner for Victoria to Southeast Asia.
From juicy Wagyu beef sandos to hearty French toast, here are some establishments to visit to savour a Victorian-inspired brunch.

1. Café Natsu

Classic brunch fare awaits at this Japanese-inspired café. Delight in an array of sweet and savoury options, among which are the cereal-crusted French toast topped with fresh Victorian seasonal fruits; and Wagyu beef sando. The latter is a must-try, comprising tender and juicy Jack’s Creek short rib between soft toast. The sando is elevated with a thin layer of shishito ketchup and accompanied with crisp toragashi fries.

2. Punch
Vegemite lovers should head to Punch, which is offering two new dishes featuring this Aussie-favourite condiment. Curated just for the event are the Dean’s breakfast, a fluffy seeded toast layered with vegemite, cheese, sliced avocado and poached eggs; and the Humpty Dumpty, a classic dish of soft boiled eggs accompanied by vegemite soldiers (strips of toast).

3. Meatsmith Little India

Meatsmith Little India is pushing the flavour envelope with its latest creation, trout roe pappadum. Made just for the festival, the dish marries savoury Yarra Valley trout roe with lightly smoked crème fraiche. It’s served atop a thin and crisp pappadum. Wash it down with a refreshing glass of Bass Phillip Estate Chardonnay 2019.

4. Tess Bar & Kitchen

This restaurant is celebrating Victorian produce with its seared Bass Strait Angus striploin. Here, the gorgeous cut is skilfully seared over high heat, resulting in a juicy interior and a golden brown crust. It’s accompanied by chimichurri, broccolini, and a creamy brown butter almond mash. What’s brunch without tipples? Complement the dish with the four pillars G&T, a concoction of Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin and Brown Brothers 1889 infused with butterfly pea.

5. Terra Madre

Terra Madre puts its own spin on Melbourne-style brunch with delectable dishes like the beetroot and avocado toast. An elevated version of the classic avo toast, this dish puts the spotlight on rich and creamy Australian avocados. It’s layered with sous-vide Victorian beets, light cream cheese, and a house-made dukkah made with Victorian macadamia nuts.
