1. Bigger and better space

Having become part of the Como Group since 2012, it was only natural for Culina at Como Dempsey to move into the group’s F&B and lifestyle enclave at Dempsey Hill. General manager Leelyne Yeo says that with the much larger space, which is two and a half times bigger than its previous outlet at over 15,000sqft, the gourmet marketplace and modern bistro now offer a more immersive experience. Yeo highlights that “it is a destination that celebrates food… a place to inspire and be inspired”.

2. Modern design by renowned Italian architect Paola Navone

Keeping in line with the elegant look and feel of the Como Dempsey enclave, renowned Italian architect-designer Paola Navone has infused a mix of French and Italian flair to the interior, adding Asian accents in the form of traditional materials such as bamboo and ceramics. Different pockets of space have been carved out, including the outdoor patio and wine bar at the bistro, as well as the bakery section, demo kitchen and floral boutique at the marketplace.

3. Sumptuous fare at the bistro

The marketplace at Culina at Como Dempsey is a food lover’s playground, given the breadth of produce and products available. You can find an expansive selection in the meat section, ranging from Westholme wagyu to Black Onyx beef, whereas at the delicatessen, there are handmade pork apple and cider sausage, pork rillettes and smoked pork tenderloin. The offerings at Culina at Como Dempsey are regularly updated, as executive chef Timothy de Souza explains, “Our produce is delivered twice a week as Culina at Como Dempsey believes in eating fresh and by the seasons.”

4. Gourmet offerings at the marketplace

“Culina at Como Dempsey aims to create a seamless shopping and dining experience,” Yeo shares. Choose your own meats, fish or cold cuts at the marketplace, which can be prepared at the bistro for a small fee; or select from the menu featuring de Souza’s modern European fare. Must-tries include the seafood bouillabaisse, comprising of seasonal seafood poached in tomato stew and rouille, and the custard tart, with a crusty pastry base filled with vanilla anglaise custard and Armagnac-laced prunes.

5. Drinks to match

No gourmet mecca is complete without tipples. Culina at Como Dempsey stocks more than 20 labels at the marketplace and 19 more at the bistro, and the list is updated regularly. At the bistro, diners can enjoy wines purchased from the marketplace for a minimal corkage fee. Or take your pick from the sommelier’s selection, a catalogue of premium wines served by the glass using the Coravin Wine Access System.
