7 Interior Architecture

7 Interior Architecture is an interior design studio driven to create narrative spatial experiences in Singapore and beyond. Across projects, founder and principal designer Howard Wee draws inspiration from his clients' unique personalities and the character of each site he gets to work on, expressing a personalised design solution through a careful application of material, scale, hue, and light.

The designer's background includes work with Six Planes, where he developed a strong foundation in detailing work. A later stint with Aamer Architects broadened his knowledge of architecture and landscaping and refined his understanding of crucial design facets, such as cross-ventilation, lighting design, and the implementation of natural and repurposed materials into a project.

"While I learned massively from Aamer’s studio, I also wanted to put my ideas to the test with what I had learned and been thinking about," he tells us. "Thus I started 7 Interior Architecture in 2007."

Within 18 months of starting the company, he began travelling for work, touching down in Cebu, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. His approach to new projects is centred around discovering innovative design solutions to suit each individual client without straying too far from the initial brief. "My design process questions the rationale behind conventional spatial layouts," he says.

Designs by 7 Interior Architecture are user-centric, timelessly elegant, and functionally sound for the long run, with strong attention to detail and careful integration of building services. Notably, the firm's clients become long-term partners and friends, often returning for further projects down the road.
