What do we do when we take over a five-star penthouse? Turn it into a retro-chic space for our friends to enjoy, of course

Tatler Hong Kong has partnered with The Upper House, transforming the hotel's sprawling 1,960 square foot penthouse to bring you our newly opened VIP lifestyle venue, Tatler House. The space comprises three sitting rooms—each with its own unique character and colour scheme, and each boasting those iconic Upper House views.

With travel off the table for the foreseeable future, we wanted to give our community a space to retreat to and feel inspired, whether it's through private events, exhibitions featuring the works of local artists or provocative panel discussions, including our upcoming Front and Female series.

The penthouse's corner ensuite bedroom has been repurposed as a welcome lounge, where floor-to-ceiling solid wood slats adorned with Tatler House signage usher guests into a mid-century-modern-style sitting room.

Rich maroon textiles and brass fixtures, including a sculptural candelabra by Tom Dixon, create a feeling of warmth, while a tall fiddle-leaf fig tree in the corner brings a touch of green amidst expansive skyscraper views.

The living room features artful touches like a plush set of royal blue velvet armchairs and an antique Chinese provincial bench.

But for the most part, the space was kept open and uncluttered so guests have plenty of room to gather and mingle—and also to allow that breathtaking view to do the talking.

As the largest room in the penthouse, the living room is where a rotating exhibition of artworks, featuring pieces by local artists, will be on display.

Currently, there are abstract geometric works by Canadian-born, Hong Kong-based artist Peter Yuill, as well as pieces inspired by traditional Chinese ink paintings by Queenie Rosita-Law

Finally, the penthouse's second bedroom has been converted into a cosy music room and bar. What was once a walk-in closet has been fitted with a custom-built dry bar, stocked with the finest pours including Hennessy XO and Ruinart Champagne.

Music is played via a stunning sound system by legendary British high-end audio brand, KEF. The speakers placed throughout Tatler House are synched, so all rooms can enjoy the same soundtrack and at the same sound quality.

A concept that originated in Shanghai, the first Tatler House opened at Capella Shanghai Jian Ye Li, occupying a grand villa. Tatler House Hong Kong is the second venue to open in the region.

The Tatler House franchise continues to grow, with the impending opening of our Singapore home. Tatler House Singapore is located in Yee Lan Court, a row of charming shophouses that date back to 1928.

The Tatler Singapore team have transformed a three-storey shophouse into a multi-functional space that comprises the Tatler Salon, a living room space that will house rotating art exhibitions, and a Tatler Bar on the mezzanine floor.
