The announcement was made by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on his Facebook page on October 21 and comes shortly after the country announced that it would only be letting in travellers from 10 low-risk countries including Singapore, China and the United States.
With the new regulations, travellers must simply have been in the eligible countries and territories for at least 21 consecutive days. They will also need to take a reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test within 72 hours of travelling to Thailand.
They will then have to take another RT-PCR test when they arrive and wait for their results in an approved hotel. Once they get a negative test result, they can roam Thailand freely.
