Yup, it's true! Netflix has just given the green light for a spin-off of Stranger Things. It will be based on an original idea from the Duffer brothers, the twin creators of one of Netflix's biggest hits. Though no details have emerged on the story or characters, fans are already excited about how the original story will branch out.

A stage play will also follow and is rumoured to be set within the existing mythology of Stranger Things

It's been viewed for more than 1 billion hours

Netflix has been reaching new milestones since Stranger Things first premiered. Now, the latest season has surpassed an impressive boundary with 1.15 billion viewing hours watched in a span of 28 days. It's no surprise as the show has become one of the most talked-about in the world of pop culture. If you haven't seen what happens in the town of Hawkins, we suggest doing so now so you don't miss out.

It's already influenced music trends

We're sure you've already heard Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill by now. It's become a mega-hit for youth today, despite being released more than three decades ago in 1985. Experts have estimated that Bush herself has earned more than US $2 million from royalties; the song also now sits comfortably on the Billboard Global 200. But Bush isn't the only artist making a resurgence since Stranger Things. Metallica's Master of Puppets is also experiencing a surge of streams after it was performed in the finale of the season.

Some of the best scenes were improvised

Truly talented actors don't merely rely on a script. Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) and David Harbour (Jim Hopper) proved just that when Stranger Things writers revealed that the two actors improvised one of the series' most important kissing scenes—one that was shared just as Hopper was about to leave to fight a Demogorgon.

Another improvised line happened between Joseph Quinn's (Eddie Munson) and Gaten Matarazzo's (Dustin Henderson) characters. As the two are preparing for battle in the Upside Down, Eddie poignantly tells Dustin (who was intended as Eddie's predecessor), "I love you, man". This is particularly touching considering the context of the season's finale.

There will be a season 5

Yes, there will be a season 5! Unfortunately, we'll have to wait quite a bit of time for it as it is likely to release in 2023. Lips are still sealed on what could possibly happen in the last and final season of Stranger Things, but we're sure it's going to be pretty exciting.
