The long-awaited film adaptation of the popular video game will be released in 2022, 14 years after the game's release

The adaptation of the wildly popular video game franchise has finally released its first trailer, much to the delight of fans. Uncharted is directed by Ruben Fleischer, whose past works include Sony's Venom and Zombieland. Fans can look forward to an action-packed script written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the duo who wrote Marvel Studios' Iron Man in 2008.

The trailer follows Tom Holland, who plays a younger version of Nathan Drake, searching for Magellan's treasure a.k.a. the greatest treasure never found, and bumps into Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg), who's also on the same hunt. Sophia Ali plays Drake's love interest, Chloe Frazer, while Antonio Banderas portrays the main villain.

The movie doesn't seem to focus on a single Uncharted game; instead it draws from multiple plots in the Playstation franchise. There are plenty of iconic moments from the game spotted in the over two-minute-long trailer, including the water cavern from Uncharted 4.

You can also spot a recreation of the iconic cargo plane sequence in Uncharted 3. In a somewhat hilarious but tense scene, Holland is seen hopping, jumping and hanging onto cargo attached to the plane as it flies above a desert.

Finally, we hear mentions of Drake's brother, Samuel, who didn't appear in the game until Uncharted 4

Uncharted premieres exclusively in theatres on February 18, 2022.
